BLUF: Great inexpensive Armor + Okay Carrier = Good Civilian Kit for home defense or short SHTF Scenario. I purchased this package for family members protection in this time of crisis. As a US Marine I’m very familiar with USGI Grade Body Armor so I’ve been looking for affordable civilian equivalent. I purchased AR500 but were on a 16 week delay before getting my family’s orders in so thought I’d try TSG after viewing positive online demonstrations of their armor. Gotta day The armor is on par with other Level III vendors quality so will buy another set and shop for a smaller carrier for my wife or buy swimmers plates. Unfortunately this carrier falls a little short given its being made to fit such a wide range of body types (up to a 3XL). So any Small- XL you are outta luck. I also don’t think it will hold up to prolonged use downrange but if you’re just looking for something for home defense or short SHTF situation you are fine. Read full review

This is as basic armor on a budget you can get. The plates are good quality but need to consider that you will need spall guard and foam pads. The plate carrier is okay but I am seriously considering getting a different brand. It is difficult to put over your head with all the weight. I wish it had a side zip or buckle. The side armor don’t have a plate holder inside the pouch so they slide around like crazy in the huge pockets. If your not expecting to much I think you will be very happy with this and considering the price it is a fairly good value.

I love the MOLLE set up. However, the plates that came with it are way too heavy. The opening you put the plates in are too big. The plates don't stay in one place. They move around and is very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the company doesn't offer a thin lightweight body armour option. It is my fault for ordering this package. The price is right, but I'd rather pay more for comfort and weight reduction. You don't want to carry around an extra 50lbs (just a guess, I haven't weighed them). Especially if you get in a foot chase. Pay more and get yourself a lightweight body armour set.

I'm like one of the other reviews. I'm 5'10" and weigh 220 pounds. I had to adjust it to the smallest size in order for it to fight right It does fit on the shoulders and hips. I would like for it to sit higher and not on the hips. On the hips, it is in the place of my duty belt. Of course, I could hook the duty belt to the molle on the vest. That's nice. Materials seem very good with good stitching. The front and back plates have no only hoop-n-loop fastening, but it also has snaps. The plates seem like they will be really good, but I never hope to prove it. Though it seems heavy carrying it in your hands, it doesn't seem heavy when wearing it. IMO, a very nice product. I'll see how it holds up!

For the price point, you really can’t beat the value here. Sure it could fit a little better, sit a little higher, be a little more comfortable, etc. However, where else are you going to get all the protection a body armor vest could have for under $200? It’s high quality, and I feel safe. You can’t put a price on this kind of piece of mind. Would I upgrade in the future? If I can afford to do so, sure. However, for just starting out and don’t want to break the bank! This is the Ideal piece of body armor. I’m a big guy / wide and it was able to fit me perfect with some simple adjustments of the Velcro A+
