When I moved from Tucson to Denver back in 2007, my precious kitty was always looking for a warm place to rest. It finally dawned on me to get her a heated mat. I bought the K&H Thermo-Kitty 12 x 25 in sage. It took my cat less than a minute to fall in love with this mat, and for the next 4 years it was plugged in 24 hours a day. I didn't notice any increase in my electric bill, which makes sense since any heat it puts off also goes to heating the house. After moving to the high desert in California in 2012, it was only plugged in half the year. My cat finally passed away, and so now it's being used where a clowder of feral cats are enjoying it. Every night there are at least 3 cats enjoying it. They like it so much they won't even run away from me anymore if they are sitting on it. I've even used this thing on myself when I have a backache or a fever. It's only 6 watts. You have to leave it on for 20 minutes before you can feel it's on. My cat dearly loved this mat. If she was sleepy and it was plugged in, she was laying on it. Even if it was 80 degrees in the house. I used to leave it on my bed for years. It was my cat's place, right next to me on the bed. Sometimes while in bed I enjoyed slipping a hand or foot under it to enjoy the heat. Well, that's the good. The bad is that the actual heating element is half the size of the mat, and so only the center section of the mat gets warm. There's no on/off switch either. No fuse either. They say not to get it wet, but it looks pretty well sealed up. Oh wait, that's good, but it's not recommended for outdoor use, which is bad. The cover is not the highest quality either. It's cheap material. But so what? I always had a small towel or blanket over it. I even used to put my coat over it, so when I went outside my coat would be toasty warm. This pad actually has a million uses. But you might upset your kitty if she can't get to it. Maybe you should buy two. One for each foot. Oh ya! They keep your feet warm too! So buy three. It was endless uses. It's why I'm leaving a review on this thing after seven years. I'm in the market for more of them. Even though the cover is cheap, my 7 year old mat still looks almost new. There are no strings hanging off of it. No stains. No tears. Zipper still works. But it was covered most of the time. Read full review

These are wonderful and made by K&H. The electric insert can be durable with good care, and the outer cover material is washable and high quality. The only thing is repositioning the two, and then you're free to have a warm, not overly warm, smiling cat. Relieved for the arthritic aid.

Perfect for my cat during cold winter, placed in a extra fitting pillow case to keep the soft material cleaner and than placed it in a roomy open cardboard box on the porch, which is sheltered from rain and such, it helps my outdoor cat warm and comfy and keeps me less worried. Thanks from my cat with a big meow

I have a 24 yr old cat that sleeps most of the day. She totally LOVES this mat. I could not have made a better purchase for Alice, my cat.
