SynopsisFind out who lived and who died in the incredible story of the founding father who made America modern--and became the toast of Broadway. This richly illustrated biography portrays Alexander Hamilton's fascinating life alongside his key contributions to American history, including his unsung role as an early abolitionist. Having read Ron Chernow's now infamous Hamilton biography that inspired the hit Broadway show, I was excited to see this new illustrated biography. It is lovingly presented and I must say that the illustrations add so much to the story. Every page has at least one painting or reproduced scene and there are several pullouts that show how Hamilton was involved in some of America's most historic moments. For anyone interested in Hamilton or early US history this book adds so much to the story, even for those who have read Chernow's book. It is a large size volume and the paper used is heavy weight plus the bibliography and acknowledgements make this a must have. I was able to get a copy here on ebay for much less than the retail $35 but I was tempted to buy it at the brick and mortar before luckily finding it at a great price. Highly recommended!
Ron Chernow illuminates so many aspects of the lives of our past historical figures. After falling in love with the Broadway play, "Hamilton", I wanted to know more about the details that couldn't be included in a two hour show.
