This product is used to connect the satellite receiver made by uniden to the scanner, due to a lack of thought when making the receiver, it was fitted with only a serial port, so this is a work around. That said, it works great, does its job well and I recommend the product especially if you want to use it with the BCD436HP or other product that calls for this type of device interface.
