First off, it isn't a Lie Nielsen or a Veritas, so it is more than a $100 cheaper than they are. Which is always a plus. 2nd it is just as pretty as the aforementioned. 3rd it came ready to use right out of the box, after you wiped it down. The cutter or blade is suitably thick and came sharpened and ready to go to work. I have used it to joint a board , smooth a board, plane highly figured maple, cherry, walnut and oak with out any blow out or chip out, it has performed each task at a high level. I am very impressed with this plane and highly recommend it.

Having never used a low-angle plane before, I wasn't sure if I would like this. A lot of woodworkers seem to dislike them, but I decided I had to try one out for myself. Well, I have to say that this plane is fantastic, and I love it. The build quality is just as good as any of the old Stanleys. It's not quite as perfect as a Veritas, but it's very close, and appropriate for its price range. The cutter did come quite sharp out of the box, but I did finish it slightly on an ultra-fine diamond stone and stop before using. Blade is A2 steel, thick and very heavy. The shavings this took off the first block of wood were superb. I gradually dialled it in until I was getting wafer thin tissue-paper shavings. It's a beautiful plane to use. Heavy and smooth. Does a fantastic job of end-gran work also. The key is keeping the mouth size extremely small. I think this is my new favourite tool. I highly recommend this product.Read full review

Been wanting one for a long time, and this one had the right price, and it was new. The only possible flaw is a very slight wiggle in the handle. Almost too slight to notice, I figure I can fix it with a leather shim or something like that. Really, it is a very sweet plane.

Great plane, perfect right out of the box and a pleasure to use. Many times a hand plane must be tuned before use. Not this one.

This is an excellent design. The low angle blade is perfect for specialized work. These planes are uncommon and will easily become a center piece to a tool collection.

The plane has good weight and with a sharp blade cuts extremely well. I use it almost always on my shooting boards.

Really great low angle plane. Made some fine shavings right out of the box and a little better after I sharpened it. Received in record time. Seller good to order from.

I didn't check to see if the bottom was flat enough to shave individual atoms off the surface. But this thing does slide like butter over the surface. It can bite deep and it can smooth a table top down. It's not overly heavy, it has great length for jointing most surfaces. It's the first plane I've used that I actually could use and received great results.

Came flat and sharp, only needed a +2 micro bevel for easy maintenance.

Honed the plane’s cutting iron, and now it smooths surfaces as intended. Very happy with this tool.
