One of the most rarest modern radios out in existence. In this day and age no radios have the ability to listen to HF frequencies, Have D-Star (without it being an Icom radio) or have full APRS support along with KISS! This radio is pack full of many features and It will remain a staple of a premium radio quality with a great but familiar design. The only 2 issues I can think of for this radio is: that is power hungry, you’ll need at least 2 batteries to last all morning to late night and last issue would be the power failure hence why it warns customers not to use the device while charging with the original charging cable. Other than that I do hope the THD75A will surpass or live up to the name of the THD74A.

The battery doesn’t hold much of a charge indicating it has deteriorated over time or has gone through a lot of charge discharge cycles so the the radio may not have been used as little as implied in the description. So far that is the only thing of concern. Have not tested all functionality yet. I had to purchase another battery which added to the cost. Great radio, my mistake may have been buying a used one. The radio is feature rich and is a great product, my issue is just the battery and how much the radio was actually used and the accuracy of the description.

This is an EXCELLENT upgrade to the TH-D72A that I still have!! It has all the same features PLUS another band to transmit on!! (220mHz) AND the dstar digital mode also!!!! My only minor complaint is I'd like a little higher capacity battery from the factory! But if that's all then that's not much to complain about!!

Top of the line handheld; no longer in production (reportedly due to a factory fire...) Unique triband with DStar and tons of other capabilities. Programs easily with free Kenwood software or RT Systems software for some more advanced programming. If you can land one at a decent price, get it quick (many are selling them at crazy prices to fund their retirement plans, it seems...)

If you are really into repeaters and have LOTS of money, this is a wonderful product to have. Too bad that it is discontinued! :-( Hopefully, in the next release from Kenwood, the clunky interface will be cleaned up and modernized. A potential solution for this is for Kenwood to make a unit with no display or keyboard - one would use ones own cell phone to control.
