I bought this to use with my Panasonic GH4. It was a cheap solution & has served sufficiently for 3 shoots so far. I haven't pushed it too far but it seems quite durable. The shoulder pad is comfortable and with everything included you can't beat it at the $200 mark. The problem is that you really need to invest in a higher dollar rig. The quick release plate feels cheaply constructed & when loosening the knob to release the plate it doesn't stop after so many turns which means you can turn it until it comes off & lose the tension springs. The rods could use a bit more length with everything you've got to stack on them, especially with a bigger lens. I wasn't able to fit the matte box on it w/a sigma lens (can't remember which one...28mm to something) The fasteners for the handles don't grip the rods as tightly as you'd hope. The follow focus works decently but on my last shoot it pushed the lens to the right which may indicate an issue with the camera mounting plate. Unless I'm overlooking something, it doesn't have much in the way of options to mount other accessories like a monitor/light/etc. & the thing is HEAVY. The counterweight feels like it's made of some super dense extraterrestrial space polymer. So you'll get a good core workout but it might not be great for your back. However as many gripes as I've had I can't list them as deal breakers at this price range. If I'd spent double the money then I'd call it a fail but for around $200 retail it doesn't get better than this.Read full review

If you are making videos that require walking or a steady operation where a tripod or monopod is not a way to go, you should look for a rig. This kit from FilmCity is a very good one if you are experimenting. It's an affordable approach to design a custom rig. (there's no assembly instructions in my kit, but if you look the pictures it's straight forward assembly). The materials are good, the rods are made from aluminum and are pretty sturdy, the cage is made from some kind of molded plastic (looks like ABS or Polyurethane) it's really strong but still have 'some" flexibility. The follow focus (FC-03 kit) is really good! is smooth and very easy to snap on/off the rig. There's a ton of possibilities to assembly this rig depending how comfortable or accessible you want it. The only cons I found are that the matte box only has one screw point to hold it, so it's not really sturdy. I expected more threads on the cage to bolt on cold shoe mount for accessories like lights or microphones (there's only on the side of the cage) but if you flip rods tightening screws (or swap for longer ones) this could be used as studs to screw Cold Shoe adapters. The shoulder cushion will slide constantly and there's nothing provided in the kit to keep in place (you need to work around with extra rod holders or be creative with tie wraps) So far is a great value for the money.Read full review

I am a lifelong photographer and videographer, and I was looking for a shoulder rig with follow focus and a mat box at a reasonable price. The FilmCity rig does everything I want and a lot more. I have only been using this setup for a week now, and already I see there are endless options for what to use, how to use it, and therefore what I can do with this piece of equipment. I've only just begun. There ism a fair amount of plastic here, and I'm sure carbon-fiber rails would be lighter and possibly stronger, but for the money you really can't beat this system, as far as my research can tell. Highly recommended for the beginner or the seasoned pro on a budget.
