  • Good to 59 degrees as a sleeping bag alternative

Saw a lot of reviews using the SOL Escape bivvy as a UL sleeping bag alternative so I picked one up to see for myself. My test night was 59 degrees and 90% humidity, and the Escape performed well with just a fleece sweater and boxer shorts. I'm 5'10" and 165 pounds, and I didn't feel claustrophobic. I feel that putting a sleeping bag inside would make tight, but doable to boost your temperature rating. A negative is the short, side zipper, makes it hard to get in and ventilate. I agree with other users that, by itself, 55 degrees is as low as you want to go when fully clothed. Adding a fleece liner will get you down 50 degrees in my opinion, and overall the construction is solid so it can work as a sleeping bag. A full length zipper should be the next gen. Fun to take out into the field if you like experimenting with gear.

  • I Don't Like The Color Orange

SOL has finally made the needed product improvement by offering this excellent product in a sensible color--green. Everything else speaks for itself: lightweight, high quality, and effective. Some people just use these for sleeping bags, non-emergency, although I have never been that hard-up so I cannot comment on that. Let us say that the Boy Scouts will not start using them for their camp-outs. No, the use is still emergency, and I am glad to have it for that. Thanks, SOL-- green is my favorite color.

  • Emergency use only

I wanted to try it for recreational use during light overnight hikes. Tested in the van with windows down between 30 and 40 Fahrenheit. It proved to be bearable but not very comfortable. Will need to do further testing. Overall seems to be good quality for the money.

  • SOL nailed this one. Excellent product.

SOL nailed this one. Light weight and compact. Kept me sleepably warm in 38 degree low temp through the night coupled with a poncho liner. Very easy to carry. Waterproof. It seemed to breathe well, no condensation when left about a quarter unzipped.

  • Excelente qualidade.

Produto muito técnico. Realmente impressiona pela qualidade. Extremamente leve, pouco volumoso e aquece bastante.

  • Great replacement for down sleeping bags

The ultimate all around sleeping bag, if you plan to do some traveling in cooler climates, or stay in very basic accommodation this little bag will do wonders for you. And it literally weighs next to nothing, and takes up no space. Works great with a hammock, or used when sleeping outdoors.

  • Seems a good fit for me

I haven't actually used this product outside overnight. I bought it to put in my bug out bag to prepare for some sort of societal meltdown where I would need to escape on foot. I chose this product because it it lightweight and waterproof. I did get in it. It is roomy for one person. It's not soft and cozy but I believe it will keep me warm and dry. Instead of taking a tent in my backpack, this should suffice. I bought one for everyone in my family. I think the only way this could be improved without adding too much weight would be lining with a thin layer of fleece.

  • 5 degrees and no sleeping bag

I used this product at 5 degrees Celsius and no sleeping bag, wearing a coat and thermal insulation pants. It wasn't too warm inside, but I could sleep enough time. However, I would carry another layer of insulation, like a sleeping bag for example.

  • Perfect Compact Sleeping System

I've only gotten the opportunity to use this a few times. But it's worked perfectly every time. Since I used it in colder months, I threw on a hoodie to stay warm. The reflective material worked perfectly to retain body heat once I produced enough.

  • Ultra light bivvy bag in green that breaths & sheds rain.

For ultralight trekking this is the best sleeping bag shell I have discovered. Used on it's own for summer or with a bag in the winter, I am storing my Goretex bivvi bag away.
