This is an excellent little 12 volt DC source for running 12 volt stuff off of 110 volt AC. I had a 12 volt shower enclosure light that the transformer failed on years ago. I used an old 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC converter from a Yamaha keyboard for a couple of years, but then that gave out too. These converters, and/or the transformers inside the black boxes, can be expensive, but this works great, and since I left the cigarette lighter style plug on it, I can always run up to the attic and steal it for something else if I need it. I just put a male cigarette lighter style plug on the wires to the light, and plugged it in. Viola, let there be light !

Product performs as expected with one huge exception. I used it on a Coleman cooler which is rated right at 4 amp draw and the converter gets very hot. Actually hot enough to burn your hand if you handled more than a few seconds. Definitely needs it's own cooling/muffin fan. I would be concerned about placing it in not readily accessible space or where children could access. At this time I am unsure that I will keep or send back for refund. High temp operation is a real issue and somewhat a surprise from a long trusted mfgr.

Very well made product that does exactly what it was designed to do. I had originally planned to buy a small 12v lawn mower/motorcycle type battery to run my marine GPS at home but after pricing a battery($35+) and considering the upkeep and recharging I opted for the Schumacher Power Converter. It has a cigarette lighter type female connector for which I also purchased a male connector (optional) with a hot (+) wire and a ground (-) wire that can be attached to any 12v appliance.

I got this for a Coleman Cooler that requires a 5 amp output. This is rated as a 6 amp output, but gets very hot. I don't know how long it would last, but currently working.

Used this little jewel to power a CB radio as a Base station from the garage. Plugged it right in from the CB cig style plug. Since the CB draws small AMPs doesn't even get warm
