    Better than a Badass...

I wanted to upgrade the bridge on my Squire short scale Jag bass, and was unsure which aftermarket bridge to get. I knew about the badass, but had the Gotoh recommended to me by the bassist in my band. So, the first plus is the price point. Which is about half of what the badass retails for. Second, is the quality of the product. At the guitar repair place I took it to be installed, I inquired about the badass, and a couple people behind the counter suggested the Gotoh bridge. Last is the look, the finish is beautiful! Also, it's a direct fit, no modifications necessary for it to be installed.

    Gotoh 201b-4 Bass Bridge

I thought this was a quality replacement bass bridge. Gotoh, has a good reputation, and this bridge looked to be built well. I used this bridge as an upgrade, and replaced my stock Fender Jazz . It was supposed to be a direct fit replacement, After installing it , my action was poor.. I.lowered the saddles ..still not enough..adjusted the truss rod...WOW!..never did a mod create such problems. After a little research gotoh saddles are machined bigger causing the problem. The use of your old saddles will work, but can leave your sound a little flat.. I replaced the gotoh bridge with a FENDER HIGH MASS... and now I have the substain and tone that I was looking for, and the fender bridge was a pain less installation. To all of you FENDER BASS PLAYERS .....Stay away from the GOTOH 201-B -Jazz Bass Bridge... Its not machined properly, causing poor action issues , truss rod adjustments, some say you have to shim the neck...Save Yourselves a lot of time and trouble ,invest in a FENDER HIGH MASS BASS BRIDGE BRIDGE ..It will be worth it.... Thanks... Mark

  • Nice cost-effective upgrade

Nice heavy well made bridge. Looks great and is easy to use and adjust. One drawback is the included screws were a bit lightweight and too small to fit into the stock screw holes on my Squire Jazz bass. I drilled out the holes on the Gotoh to a larger diameter so I could use the larger stock screws which worked with no problems. Was able to set intonation and string height with no issues. Not sure I noticed any major change in playability or tone but there appears to be a slight increase of sustain.

  • Good bridge

Nice bridge that perfectly fit on my pbass. Looks solid and was easy to adjust. Good product at a reasonable price.

  • A worthy upugrade for any non-USA Fender bass

There is no reason to spend more on a bridge than this. That's because this one is so good and it checks all of the right boxes. High mass? Check. Slots to keep saddles in place? Check. Substantial saddles? Check. Easy to adjust? Check. Looks great (and is) very high quality? Check. Unless you absolutely need a string through body bridge, get this. You won't regret it. Pros: Everything Cons: None

  • not a bad buy

the bridge itself is a good grade as far as materials and looks, but I put it on one of my P basses and I could'nt get the action low enough, on my other one I put the Fender high mass bridge and that's perfect. I wanted to try something other than Fender but I guess you can't go wrong with Fender, sorry Gotoh I'm going to put it on my Jazz bass we'll see how it works on that one.

  • Good price good looks better all around

I bought this for my fender jazz bass MIM. I noticed that the cheap bridge would move around and tuning would go off.. I took it off, put the gotoh on and that was it. Sounds better. Holds tuning better and looks great.

  • Excellent Product

I ordered one of these to see if it was a good bridge to replace the one that came on my Squire Jazz bass. It was exactly what I was looking for. A direct replacement that not only good looking but added to the sustain more. The screws it comes with are a bit smaller then the standard Fender screws used on stock bridges. I simply used the ones from the original bridge. I had to drill out the holes in the bridge .003 of an inch in order to use the standard screws. It looks like the holes were fine when the bridge was mfg. but the chrome plating closed the holes just a bit. The holes drilled out just fine. When I installed the bridge I figured I would have to adjust the action and intonation on the strings. I play with a really low action and did have to make a few small adjustments to the action to get it to where I like it. It came pre set from the factory to standard Fender specs. I didn't have to touch the intonation at all. That was dead on. I was so pleased with this bridge I purchased two more for two other basses, A Jaguar and an Ibanez Talman. I will order another to change the one on my 70's Jazz bass.

  • Great product at this price point.

Included screws didn't jive, but fit like a glove on my TRBX174EW with a little finesse. 👍 Very pleased for the price.

  • Be aware that the saddles on this bridge...

Be aware that the saddles on this bridge are larger than the stock ones (they may force you to change the way you set up your bass). The back anchor wall is thicker than the stock one and makes a comfortable rest for your hand.
