Truvativ GXP - that's all you need to know
It just works.
The bottom bracket & crankset is one of the areas of the bike where the component manufacturers just refuse to agree on a standard (open bearing square taper and ISIS are long dead and good riddance). So, the different tribes have all pushed their particular crankset system. In my experience, Truvative/SRAM has the most versatile options with their GXP designs. They are lighter, just as durable, and as trouble free as anything else on the market -- and without the ridiculous pricing that some manufacturers attempt to pass on. As with any structural part, you gotta install it properly, but the GXP is quiet and solid, and it will give you plenty of warning if you didn't torque it properly. Easy field adjustment if ever that happened. Shimano's external pinch bolt, well -- when it fails, enjoy the walk.Read full review
