I purchased the MS 3050 to replace my broken MS 3000 keyboard and mouse. I really liked the original that did everything that I wanted and provided smooth operation. When I received the MS 3050, I immediately installed it, and found problems with the mouse scroll wheel. Physical operation was smooth, but scrolling was erratic and jumpy, often randomly causing a page to jump back and forth. I spent hours on the Web trying to determine the problem. None of the recommendations helped. I blasted air into the mouse and changed the settings in Control Panel with no result. I would have opened the mouse to adjust the wheel, but to do so I would have had to remove the rubber strips on the bottom and, unfortunately, it no longer uses crosshead screws to hold the mouse together. It now uses tiny hex bolts and I didn't have the correct tool for that. I finally had to return the set and order a Logitech.Read full review

It a replacement for the one I had originally. I still have the first set using it for my other computer. The feel and the quality is excellent.

I've had a couple of these keyboards on various machines. Once you become accustomed to the touch, every other keyboard feels and sounds cheap. Easy to use, comes with additional software for added features.

The 3000 is built a little better. The 3050 has keys you have to press hard to get some of them to work. Even the shift button only works if pressed hard. I guess the encryption works, I didn't keep it long enough to tell. I read several articles since that said the only true encryption is with a wired keyboard and mouse.
