First time I removed the cassette from my new Fulcrum Racing Zero wheel to clean it, I was disappointed to find the cogs had gouged the aluminum freehub body. After filing the burrs off, I finally got the cassette off and cleaned it. I did a little research and found that the freehubs for the Fulcrum wheels are available in steel and aluminum. I guess in the quest to make the wheels as light as possible, the aluminum freehub body is used on the high end wheels. The lower priced, and presumably heavier wheels, use a steel freehub body. Thankfully, they’re interchangeable, so for me, a downgrade in the weight category will be a huge upgrade in reliability and longevity. I didn’t weigh them before I installed the new one, but I’m sure it’s not enough of a difference to notice while riding ( for me, anyway).Read full review
