I'm a body man and have been wanting to transition from air to electric orbital sander. Air is too noisy, even with top of the line Hutchinson 6in da it's just too noisy and the cost of the pads at 30 for 3m and 25 for Norton and them wearing out in a couple months it's too expensive to run but this unit is so quiet and powerful even on lowest setting is just so satisfying to use, so I'm delighted to have made this purchase.

Nice sander. The dust catcher is not worth a flip. Bad design. Wouldn’t advise this sander only because of the dust box. Sander itself is powerful and easy to use. I have been wood working for 35 years. I have had many sanders over the years and I would say if you want to fight with the dust box then buy it. I have three others sanders and most the time I pass on this one or I put a 220 grit on it.

This is my sixth Milwaukee sander and fourth 5" random orbital. I wore out one of the early corded ones and replaced it about 25 years ago. Then I got an M-18 one a few years ago, and now this one combined with the Milwaukee dust extractor. This one is easily the best of the lot. About the only thing that would make it better is a cord that has a connector in the handle like some of their tools. Using this with the dust extractor leaves almost zero dust behind and I can't see any in the air when I shine a bright light across the sanding work area. It makes those dust bags and static filters on the the other ones look like toys and best, and something awful more accurately. With the M18 cordless one you still have to get suited up and wear a mask. With this one - just set it up and go (7' not 8'!!!). Now, paired with the dust extractor you will want to get a 7' 16 gauge extension cord and about eight 1.5" clips to attach the cord to the hose, but that's it. It is just so nice to turn on the tool and have that power up the dust extractor. It's the only way to go.Read full review
