This brush cutter was really impressive hogging through a mix of pulpy wet swamp weeds, multi-floral rose (sticker bushes) and underbrush. It made quick work of an overgrown jungle. The kit was well equipped with an anti-vib handle, shoulder strap and needed clamps in addition to the cutter attachment itself. The triangle blade appears blunt and I was skeptical of this but used it as-is and it worked well even on upwards of 1" trees. The smaller materials presented no obstacle at all. I had large downed trees mixed in this mess and occasionally "found them" with the cutter head yielding no damage just a slowing of the rpms and a ding sound of the blade hitting the harder materials. I can honestly say this tools lives up to the advertising materials as surprising at that is for a click on tool.Read full review

This unit seems fairly well built but does not work as well as I had hoped. The blades are not even sharp. They have a blunt edge. It cuts larger plants and woody stemmed brush easily but smaller weeds and brush it just beats around with the blunt edge of the blade.

Had to cut my dune grass for the winter. The Ryobi Brush Cutter does a great job mowing through the dune grass and made it a lot easier to prepare for winter.

Great Brush cutter. The Tri-loc blade needs to be re-thought! Sharpen it or change the design all together! (Saw tooth design is much better.

Ryobi "expand it" system is great; this is a very useful component to have if you are dealing with more than grass and weeds.

I thought that this Expand It unit might work with my Yard Man straight shaft trimmer. It didn't, but that could've been a problem with the attachment gear being too short at the time to accommodate it (which I fixed later). My son has a Ryobi straight shaft so I traded with him for his brush cutter. The Expand IT works fine with his Ryobi powerhead and his original brush cutter worked fine on my trimmer -- until 20 minutes later when it fell out of the shaft while still running. That's when I learned the attachment ring was loose. After a minor repair, both brush cutters are working fine. Haven't tried the Ryobi Expand It brush cutter again on my trimmer, but I suspect it would work.

This brush cutter is a major step up from a string trimmer. It will zip through weeds and such that would normally cause a string trimmer to stall. The shoulder strap was a nice addition.

The Ryobi expand it brush cutter is very useful, I sharpened the blade on mine and it really helped. I did purchase a blade that looks similar to a circular saw blade that you can use on the brush cutter which is a great help for cutting brush and small trees. I highly recommend this product for anyone trying to clean property or small brush from their yard.
