The Vortex Venom is an open, reflex, red dot sight (RDS). This is the second one I have purchased, and in my opinion, it is the best sight of this type you can buy at this price point. From my point of view (so to speak), the combination of features, size, and cost of the Vortex Venom beat out other similar competitors like the SIG Romeo1, Burris FastFire III, and Leupold Deltapoint.

Nice small sight, easy to use, but red dot will not go small enough, too bright for indoor shooting. Would be good out in bright sun light, I shoot mostly indoor 25 yard targets with .22. I have a Holosun HS403C, that is excellent for what I do, and at half the cost.

My wife and I shoot in the Greater Boston Pistol League, and we both use these sights. I've tried 3 other brands of similar red dots (Docter, Burris & Tasco), and I like the Vortex the best. You don't have to remove the sight from the mount to change the battery, the light level control gives more adjustment than others, and the dot is nice & round

This is a great little red dot. I put it on a Walther Q5 Match conversion slide that I recently got for my PPQ. It was very easy to mount. Now this is not the fanciest looking red dot out there but as far as performance and features go, it's right up there with the big boys. I also have a Sig Romeo 1T and a Trijicon RMR on two other pistols and I can honestly say that the dot on the Vortex Venom is just as good as both of those. I believe that this Vortex Venom is the best red dot in the $200-$250 price range. I think my Sig and my Trijicon look better because the Venom is kind of boxy looking, but I can live with that considering the price.

Having only used this scope for a short time, I am so far pleased. I replaced a Burris FastFire lll on my S&W Victory .22 pistol with this one. Though I was by no means displeased with the Burris, I do appreciate this one a bit better. I would say that the quality of both scopes is about the same, very good for the price range. The dot, and the target, are crisp and clear. I like having the option of ten manual brightness settings as opposed to three on the Burris. Of course, it also has the option of having the brightness adjust automatically. I have found that picking up the dot in this scope is a bit easier (faster) than it was with the Burris, possibly because of the overall shape and/or size of the lens. It was easy to mount using the TandemKross Shadow Mount V2.0. I prefer this mount over the Picatinny Rail supplied with the pistol to keep the scope closer to the barrel centerline. Installing or replacing the battery requires some finesse, but it is not overly difficult. For me, this scope has two negatives, one actual and the other just speculation. The actual negative for me is that there are no perceived "clicks" associated with the windage or elevation adjustments. And the negative for which I am merely speculating (and did not include in my four star rating) is that it may not be a good choice for use on a heavy recoiling handgun, or one that will take a lot of abuse. As stated, I am using it on a .22 pistol. It is the only firearm I will ever be using it on. I do not use this pistol in the manner I do some of my other "practical" handguns, or my AR. Though it might hold up well to such use, I have doubts. The quality is good, but it is not built like a tank! To sum up: I am so far pleased with this scope and have no problem recommending it to others for similar use.Read full review

I love this sight! I'm using it on a Ruger MKIV 22LR pistol. In fact I have a great review video of it on my YT channel at scottnra. (you know how to get there) in fact it was so good, Ebay kicked me off of their affiliate program without warning for daring to show a product I was selling for them, that goes on a gun...actually on a gun! (Read that again) THe weenies actually booted me for selling THEIR product on their sight because it was shown doing what it is made to do. While it hard to keep up with the stupidity of liberals (who don't mind taking our money) it's easy to hit your target with this bright red dot. Check out the review on the channel.

Light and compact. Larger viewfinder than other brands. Bright, auto adjusting dot with easy controls and easy battery access. Running it as a carry optic but would work as well on an AR.

All Pros: Well made Easy to use. Love not having to remove the red dot to change batteries, Has an auto dimming feature... Very nice. Bought a slide cut specifically for the Venom. Looks fantastic on the slide. 3-MOA dot is a major bonus. Large viewing window makes easy viewing to fide the dot. .

This is my first red dot sight and I love it. For the price paid, it is a great add on to my Glock 19. I have it mounted with a dovetail adapter and it works great. Haven't shot with it yet but will definitely try it out soon. It has 10 brightness settings and auto mode which is a great feature. Been doing a lot of sight acquisition with a target in my apartment to get used to it. Love the way it looks on the pistol also!

Best product in this line. I wouldn't consider using any other brand. Perfect performance after constant use on a 30-06 TC Encore pistol and another on a 45 acp 1911. Number ten in the near future.
