Gives 16 bonded channels down. Bought refurbished. Seems I have to do a hard reboot less often with this SB6183 Modem using Louisville Kentucky Spectrum compared to my old Motorola SB6120. Had the techs to my house many times. Is it the modem change from SB6120 to SB6183 resulting in fewer disconnects or is it simply the fact that the cable company has focused on my multiple complaints (Peter Principle)? I don't know--because I have changed modems many times before trying to fix a disconnect problem and the modem change in the past has made no difference. Now? Things are better with this refurbished SB6183. As of 09/06/2017, the Spectrum tech in Louisville Kentucky showed me the Arris (Motorola) SB6183 modem as their standard product for my 60mbps connection.

I thought I had purchased a “new” sn6183 but I came refurbished, also with a $7.80 C.O.D attached to it as well. After 30 being plugged in it starts giving off this horrible “curry-like” odor off. Even my kids asked why it smells so bad. Then when hot it starts dropping bandwidth. Don’t buy!

This modem is 'awesome ' - with 16 'lanes' for the data high throughput is guaranteed... I'm a new subscriber to our local provider (ComCast) and the modem locked to their signal without issue... I researched Cable Modems and the SB6183 was one of the 'Top Dogs' in the ratings & the reason for my purchase... The only problem I encountered was not being able to use it with our Roku box...I was trying to connect directly directly from the Cable Modem into the Roku unit...The Roku box saw the 'connection ' but would not connect to the Internet... This problem was resolved when I connected a Netgear AP to the Modem and then to the Roku via the internal switch... No problem - it was something to have to figure out on my own...Everything on my network is working fine now and this afternoon I'm calling AT&T to disconnect Uverse !!!Read full review

I just got off the phone with our provider, and once I gave her the information she needed about the unit, up came my internet! Do not be concerned if all the lights are not on once plugged in. Just call you provider and if you have done your homeowner and what you purchase is compatible with your provider, it should work immediately. (Provided you plugged things in correctly!) Here's to hoping it was worth it and it will work for a good while and we will not have to pay $13 a month to rent their modem!

Easy to install - just had to call Comcast. I've only been using it for less than a week but so far no complaints about internet. Definitely glad I went with buying this instead of renting from Comcast - wish I'd done it sooner. As others may have mentioned, the one downside is that the blue light is pretty bright. I don't think I'd be able to sleep if it was in the same room as me but it doesn't bother me just being in the living room.

Works great with Comcast Xfinity. Was much smaller than expected, only about 5x5 inches, so it takes up little space. Super happy about replacing my rental, I paired it with a TP link Archer A7 router and am getting better speeds than the 2 in 1 device provided by Xfinity.
