The unique and award winning design with its color coded interface makes the OP-1 a synthesizer for everyone. so, finally, you don’t have to be an engineer to use a synthesizer. add the unique built-in sequencers on top of that and you'll understand why so many highly regarded producers and artists hold this little machine so dear.
I received my order 6 days early which was great timing. The description of the product said near mint but the device has clear scratches on the screen which isnt such a big problem. (they were also shown clearly in the product pics) My biggest problem is the color on the display. every other time i turn it on the red in the display is almost entirely blurred and cant be seen. (see pictures) the only way to fix this is to give it a soft reset and hope i get a lucky on switch. Overall it makes me a little worried that the sound my device is producing might be bugged too. i was messing with drums and suddenly they got distorted and again the only way to fix them was to soft reset with the power switch. Cheers for such a good sale but i will be more than a little annoyed if this thing dies on me in the near future. Its NOT cheap :/ (after taking the pics i realized the color must fade after youve had the device on for some time. The red was fine when i turned it on but moments before i took the pics it faded away)Read full review
OP1 suddenly stopped turning on. It was plenty charged and I had used it a few hours prior. I am scared to recommend this product. For $1200 or whatever is msrp, it better not break! If it does they better fix it for free or reasonable cost. Company Teenage Engineering recommended said it would take a $50 repair quote plus cost of repairs. There are diy repair guides but who knows what exactly is wrong and some oem parts are hard to find.
It was a lot of fun when it worked but its definitely not for everyone. You have to make your own fun (and music!) with it, it's completely what you make it. It made me appreciate the ease of production on a computer! Although the limitations of this device do promote creativity and can be fun. It would be nice if they released an OP2 with some modern upgrades and hopefully better warranty for a toy with a $1000 markup.Read full review
The Teenage Engineering OP1 is the DO-IT-ALL Sensation of an Entire Generation...
From its 4 Track Recorder to its Multitude of Synth Engines & Drum Machines, The Teenage Engineering OP1 is an All in One Musical Powerhouse masquerading as a Rich Kids Toy.
For over 10 Years OP1 has proven that size Does Matter... Smaller Is, in fact, Better... Better Engineering, Better Design, Better Layout & Better Workflow than its Competitors.
Dont Buy an OP1 if you dont plan on giving it the time & understanding that deserves. It takes a while to get used to and much longer to Masters :) but when you do, Watch Out... the OP1 can do it all.
You can make an entire track with features such as infinite over-dubbing, Sampling from external Sources, Audio over USB, Midi, DAW Integration, Amoled Display & much more.
If your worried about the Price, Dont Be! The OP1 holds its value like a Blue Chip so you can always re-sale it to another musician with Great Taste.

I have had many synths, samplers, and drum machines but none like this. It has it all— powerful synth engines, so many built in sounds, effects, and then the variable speed TAPE RECORDER function just completes the package and takes it all to the next level for experimentation and keeping it all from ever getting old. Is it worth the $1000+ that people are paying? Maybe not and you can find other gadgets to level up with. But I got it for ~$800 and between this and my 404 I feel I am set for life. Just yesterday I sampled a sound my son made, spread it across the keys and multi-tracked a beat with it in minutes, all without a computer. There is still so much I have to learn with it and I don’t expect to ever find something I can’t feasibly accomplish with it.
The OP-1 is my gateway back into making music again. Make music anywhere anytime. The hype is real. The delivery was very quick and the synth was like new, with some leftover Louie Armstrong samps. Great first experience with eBay.
