This S&W M&P tactical pen was not my first. I tried two other brands. Once I tried this pen, my mind was made up and have purchased a total of four of this model. This pen feels good when writing (its primary function) and it looks good. Some pens have extreme styling that would draw unwanted attention. Some other pen brands, for instance, have a spiky "DNA collector" on the cap, a feature I do not want. Why would you want something that would tear up your thumb if you ever had to use the pen to protect yourself? This M&P is strong, well designed and understated. I carry mine all day, every day.
