Everything about this knife screams quality. Blade quality if great and the CPM S30V steel stays sharp and holds an edge for a long time. The G-10 handle really grips well even when wet. Flipping the blade open with the large spyder hole is effortless. Ball bearing lock is sturdy and won't fail. The drawback of this knife might be that the pocket clip can only be set at the blade tip up, left hand or right hand position. Another con for some would be the ball bearing lock is very stiff at first but loosens up eventually. However, you still need a lot of hand strength if you are going to open and close this knife using just 1 hand. If you have used a Syderco knife with a compression lock, this ball bearing lock is going to take some time getting used to. Also, for those people that like their EDC to be under 4 ounces, this might not be the knife for you as this knife comes in at around 5 ounces. Personally, I do like the weight of this knife and don't mind using 2 hands to close the knife due to the stiff ball bearing lock. Once in my hands, it really feels great.Read full review

The Spyderco Manix 2 G10 is a good knife, but if you make a couple mods you can make this a great knife. 1) The internal spring that operates the ball bearing locking system is too stiff for me from the factory. The stiff spring makes this knife difficult to close with one hand. Fortunately, McMaster-Carr sells a spring that is the exact save size as the factory spring, but it is slightly less stiff. The McMaster replacement part is #1986K46. 2) The plastic ball cage works OK, but it just feels cheap and plastic. Fortunately, Flytanium makes replacement ball cages in various metals and colors. 3) Some say replacing the stainless steel ball with a ceramic ball makes the knife smoother. I put in a ceramic ball but, I did not see any difference in the action. However if you want to go ceramic, the McMaster part is #9576K32. It is a 3/16" diameter ball.Read full review

Thin is one STOUT knife! The ball bearing lock will NOT fail, once engaged for ANY reason. The G10 scales and over abundant jimping give 100% traction on this knife at all times. I got the SV 30 steal blade, and it has held its edge through everything I have thrown at it.(mostly cardboard boxes and wood) the blade shape is very useful. The knife deploys with a thumb to the hole and a flick of the wrist. It retracts with just a pull of the button and another flick of the wrist. The engraving on the blade shows that there are some people in charge at Spiderco with a sense of humor.... "Made in the USA.... Earth". There are other steals offered with this knife. I would say if you want an edge that standard up, get the SV 30 or the VG 10.

I have been using this knife for roughly two weeks at this point and so far it has met all my expectations. The knife arrived with a very sharp edge and has maintained that edge best I can tell. The pocket clip holds tightly with no issues. There is no blade movement when locked and all the mechanics of the knife are smooth. It has great USA quality and I am very satisfied.

This may be the last EDC you'll ever need!! I've had other knifes like benchmade and a few other brands and I prefer this as my everyday Knife! Great knife and its s30v! I bought mine for 80 bucks and its of great quality. I've since changed out the scales just for a custom look but the g10 scales that come with knife are awesome too!! Lots of grip! So basically ya Can't go wrong with the manix2!! Buy it and you'll agree!

Fantastic knife. Robust. Shipped razor sharp. I took the earlier advice and ordered a ball ceramic ball bearing and replacement spring for lock. McMaster-Carr part number 1986K46(spring) and 9576K32(ceramic ball bearing). Also ordered a Flytanium ball cage replacement via eBay. These upgrades really compliment the knife , in my honest opinion.

I purchased this Spyderco for my brother only to find out he gave it to me as a Christmas gift. Spyderco makes some of the best pocket knives (my experience) I’ve purchased and used over the years. My granddaughter has a Pink Spyderco I got her a couple years back and she likes it. The quality always seems to be number one priority with Spyderco knives and the many blade materials available make it almost unmatched in the industry.

Just another solid Spyderco. Great blade steel (for me, I know S30V seems to be falling out of favor with some), VERY solid build quality, and just ready to be beaten up. What I like: As mentioned, the blade; the solid lock-up; The ball-bearing lock; the ergonomics. Just a pleasure to use. What I'm not so keen about: The weight (at about 5 ounces, it's a bit on the heavy side for an EDC - at least for me); deployment (just not as easy as other knives with different locking mechanisms, like a good Spyderco compression lock, or a Benchmade Axis lock); bulk (it's a bigger knife in the pocket than I prefer... ain't much else going in there!). Overall, and a summary: Not my favorite Spyderco, or folding knife, but I do enjoy using it. (For reference, my current favorite Spyderco is a Stretch 2, and with those, most likely the FRN ZDP-189 model, which is just a GREAT slicer, and perfect for on the road food-prep). If I lost this one, would I replace it?... Only if I got a very good deal on the replacement. At full pop, I'd look for a different replacement... maybe the basic FRN model with the lesser steel (but still respectable).Read full review

Fits perfectly your hand solid grip, made in the USA not to heavy not to light all ready cleaned tree brook trout with it. As a woman I love this knife and have made it part of my EDC... Thankyou Spyderco for making such fine knives in the USA for a reasonable price.

I have a lot of good edc knives and when I saw this one, I initially thought it would be decent based on reviews and it was at in my opinion, a very good price point so I bid on it. Now that I have had a few days to handle and use it, I have to say, it is one of the most comfortable and usable knives that I own. I have a Paramilitary 3 and some others from Spyderco and quite a few Benchmade's and this is the one I grab almost every day. It's not made with super steel or covered with titanium or carbon fiber, but it is very comfortable in the hand, and you can just feel that it is built well. Very Happy to own the Spyderco Mannix 2 now.
