Can get quite loud (in my opinion). I don't collect Bluetooth speakers, so I don't have much to compare this with. Just know it's MUCH lounder than the speaker it's replacing, which is a few years old. Bass is very good for a portable speaker, you can see the little woofer on the top bouncing once it gets to higher volume levels; pretty cool. I previously had some really great experience with my refurb Sony products. I'd usually get like-new / brand-new products, which was quite lucky. This time around, I actually got a refurbished product. A few light scratches on the top and bottom of the speaker and simple plastic packaging, not even an included manual. This isn't an issue, as I bought it at a reasonable price and as a refurbished item. Just letting y'all know incase you're hoping for a like-new product. This doesn't affect my rating as the listing was/is not mislead in any way. Great speaker for the price, my mom is going to love it as a replacement for her tiny bluetooth speaker we bought for her a few years ago as it's on it's last leg. Thanks for the deal. Easy to pair, small enough to put into a backpack, loud enough when you crank it up. The controls are clear and easy to read - power button, pairing button, play/pause button, plus and minus button etc. are all legible. The sound is clear with nice mids and highs, you are not going to get the boom boom bass. This speakers remembers at least two separate devices (I have it connect to two phones), but plays only one device at a time. Very happy with the Sony SRSXB-23.

Not very loud. Wouldn't use for a party but decent for a single room and casual listening. Not sure of durability yet, but good design and easy to pick up and move. Seems to have good battery life so far. Got it refurbished at a good price and no damage noted.

Have been through several portable 5V USB chargeable Bluetooth speakers, and for size, sound, portability, ruggedness, and price, this is it… In my case, I enjoy working in the yard and riding a bike to music. The speaker is waterproof, so it’s safe during light rains, it handles the rigors of a bike ride, and is loud enough to compete with basic traffic noise, without being so loud as to block out sounds you need to hear. They can also be daisy chained together over an internal Bluetooth link. And, to top it all off it’s roughly the diameter of a 16oz pop bottle, so it can easily fit into common bottle holders. I’m so happy with these, I now own three…

The Sony Extra Bass SRS-XB23 projects sound well and has a decent wireless range of about 20 feet. My main reason for purchasing it was to amplify the sound of my PC and to have the freedom to move about the house without carrying the PC to hear it. The "extra bass" is not a high definition sound quality. At times it sounds muffled like in an echo chamber and the high end tends to be lost. However, this effect can be corrected fairly well with equalizer software as it will allow you to increase the brighter end of the sound spectrum and lower the bass end to your satisfaction. The speaker's then sounds very good and is pretty powerful. Overall I am pleased with this speaker. It is serving its purpose well.
