The latest version of this suitcase (with no charge controller) no longer comes with a hinged mounting plate on the back of the suitcase to attach your own charge controller. Previous versions did as seen in many public pictures/videos. There are now simply 6 empty holes in the top frame of the suitcase where previously a mounting plate was attached. Only the more expensive suitcase model that comes with Renogy's charge controller and other extra wiring has this mounting plate now. Please be aware of this if the mounting plate feature is important to you and you buy direct from Renogy. The latest stock they have of this suitcase version does not come with the charge controller mounting plate. I have my own charge controller and wanted to attach it to the built-in mount that I thought was going to be included. I will have to figure out an alternate way to attach my charge controller to the suitcase. Otherwise, this seems to be a good product, although a bit heavy at 20+ lbs.Read full review

When I bought this stand alone solar panel (without charge controller), my intent was to parallel it with my Renogy 100W Suitcase Solar Panel Kit (with charge controller) for a 200W total system. When I received it, I learned that Renogy does not intend for customers to expand the kit, even though the charge controller is a 20 Amp controller. When I called Renogy and spoke to a tech support, I learned that any modification of the kit would void the kit's warranties. The panel itself is good quality so I may choose to risk voiding the warranty, expecting that the solar panels will last a full panel lifetime anyway and I just will eat the cost should it fail.

Great portable solar panel kit. Works fantastic and took no time to hook up and charge my RV batteries. I did not like the way the MC4 connectors work. Once attached they take a lot of work to get apart. I did not buy the special tool as an add on. Once I did get the connectors apart with a screw driver I cut of the tabs. Now it is no problem.

This is a quality product, nicely finished with great carrying case, I'm very pleased. However the dimensions quoted are a bit off. The panels themselves are close to the dimensions given, but there are things like handles, protruding nuts, corner protectors, latches, etc. that add to the panels. If dimensions are critical, these are the maximum dimensions that I measured on my suitcase: Length 27 3/8", Width 20 5/8" and Thickness 3 1/4". I wouldn't be building anything to fit until your model is on your bench. :-)

This is way larger than my other 100w Renogy Solar Suitcase I bought a year ago (also refurbished for the same price). It also weighs 6lb more. Both are monocrystalline. I don't fault Renogy as they posted the specs of this one. I just wasn't paying attention. Still it's a good panel and I recommend it.
