The Nikon D5300 is one of the best camera values a mid-level photographer can buy. The camera sensor has more power than the kit lens can utilize, but even so the image quality is fantastic. Not a fault of the camera per se, but the RAW format NEF cannot be read or used by Photoshop CS5, which is what I have. They first have to converted to Adobe's proprietary format which is relatively simple, but it's just an unnecessary step that is inconvenient. The camera I purchased on eBay unfortunately was a gray-market one, so be careful. This is not to say the camera is not a genuine Nikon, it is. But, it didn't arrive in this country "legally", and will not be serviced by Nikon should you need it. If you are looking at buying a Nikon camera on eBay, make sure the original box has a "U" on the UPC bar code, and the serial number begins with a 2 or 3.Read full review

Camera works but had issues I had to fix such as a broken part that prevented the use of some lenses until said part was fixed.

I saw this camera at BestBuy first for $699 for just the camera and the kit lens. I decided to check here to see if I could get a better deal and wow was I impressed. For an even cheaper price I got this entire bundle! I was a little skeptical with a price like this but the camera and the lens were completely legit. I checked the serial number on Nikon o make sure it wasn't some cheap knockoff. Naturally nothing is a perfect deal. As with most bundles, they sacrifice quality for quantity. 1. The memory card was an off brand, generic card with a slow read/write speed. 2. The tripod was cheap but useable. I don't use it simply because I'm afraid my camera will fall off with it. 3. The bag is completely useless for a camera like this. Everything in the bundle doesn't even fit and it way too thin to offer any kind of protection. There aren't even dividers to separate everything so am I expected to just throw everything it there? 4. The cleaning kit in there is the one thing I didn't use yet but I probably won't. I simply don't trust it. 5. The smaller tripod is useable but isn't that sturdy. Other than that everything else in the bundle was alright. In my opinion the most useful items are wireless remote and the macro lenses. As for the camera it speaks for itself. It's a great camera that gives you professional looking photos for a great price without added too much weight like the more expensive ones. It's great if you already have a camera but want to step up your photography game or if you're a beginner with a lot of patiences and drive to learn. It gives you the flexibility to get good photos or switch to manual modes and get great photos. Camera 5/5 Bundle 3/5Read full review

This is a great product for anyone wanting to get into photography. The camera is excellent. It's full of great features and packs a big punch for the price tag. I love this camera and I am really happy with my purchase. I haven't really used it for video yet but according to some youtubers, it's the best dslr in this price range. If you are planning on using it for film make sure you upgrade the tripod and get a microphone. There's ton's of information about this camera and how to use it online. I watched a 40 min tutorial on youtube by "Tony & Chelsea Northrup" that helped me get through the basics of camera operations and settings. Also "B & H" photography has a lot of technical lectures by professional photographers for almost every shooting situation. Pros- o The Price! So cheap for what you get! o This kit comes with so much stuff! o The two lenses cover almost everything a begging photographer needs for almost any type of shooting. o The cleaning kit, the circular polarizer and ND Filters are nice to have. Cons- o The kit was missing the macro lens adapters when it arrived. But, I emailed the seller and they sent them right away! So as long as you do an inventory I'm sure you'll be fine. o The tripod is almost useless. It is just too cheap but I picked up a "Dolica Proline" on amazon for $50 and it works great. o The bag I received is not the one in the description. It came with a black shoulder bag, big enough for a little day shoot. I assumed the bag wouldn't be that great anyway and picked up a little bit nicer one on amazon that suits my needs better. Although It's actually kinda nice having this one to keep all the extra stuff in.Read full review

It takes excellent pictures and video. No wonder the Nikon D5300 is still being produced. The automatic settings take excellent photos, but once you go manual... the picture quality becomes even better. Blows away any cellphone photos.

The D5300 is very light and easy to use. This is my first digital camera of this type and I'm surprised at the quality of the photos. I'm using it for Real Estate photos and I couldn't ask for more. I'm only sorry it took me so long to buy one.
