The Kitchenaid Professional ser...ies "lift" mixers have a design flaw that one should seriously consider when purchasing. There are two tabs spot welded on the mixer bowl that allow it to attach to the arms on the mixer for one to "lift" the bowl. These tabs are tack welded and not very strong. Mine snapped off while mixing a batch of bread. Once a tab is gone, the entire mixer is useless for mixing - unless one holds the bowl in place by hand. Kitchenaid wants $100 for a replacement bowl. The bowls, by themselves, are not prevalent on ebay. Thus far, the least expensive replacement option is $62 + shipping. I've used this mixer 20-25 times and feel awful delving out over $350 only to have this happen just after the warranty expired.
