Great value for the price!
This is my 2-nd set of these small light-weight radios. They are ideal for use out in the woods and lake and are used as backup radios in case the main ones fail. Pretty good range if not in urban surroundings. The battery life is excellent at a ratio of 1-hour (rx) : 1 min (tx). The supplied chargers are flimsy but the batteries can be recharged with any good 3.2v Li-Ion smart charger & alligator clips, mains powered or solar. Please take note: YOU NEED TO RE-PROGRAM THESE RADIOS (using Chirp, model "Baofeng BF-888S") TO LEGAL FREQUENCIES IN YOUR COUNTRY BEFORE USING THEM. DO NOT TRANSMIT ON THE PRE-PROGRAMMED FREQUENCIES. Even so, you need an amateur radio license to transmit with these radios.

NICE UNITS PRE-PROGRAMMED TO CRAZY FREQUENCIES!!
These units are really a good deal, but they come pre programmed to NON frs/gmrs frequencies required here in the USA. Mine came programmed to 462.125---462.225---462.325--etc etc up to channel 9 at 462.925--- then it went to 463.025---463.125---463.525---450.225--460.325--and channel 16 at 469.950 They work perfectly on those channels, but you will be in violation of FCC law if you use them. You will have to also purchase the programming cable which costs less than 5 dollars, and download a FREE program on the internet called "CHIRP". To reprogram the frequencies is not totally easy, and I am a retired electronics technician!! You will have to do research to find what are the ALLOWED frs/gmrs frequencies in YOUR country. Then you will need to watch youtube videos on HOW to use the CHIRP software. Once you do all that, you will own some REALLY NICE walkie talkies. They are well worth the price and even have a chargeable battery!! The 2 button user controls are easy for kids or old adults to use. I am not sorry I bought them because they work well and are easy to use. They will work OK right out of the box, but will not communicate to OTHER brands of frs/gmrs radios because you need to program them to standard frs/gmrs frequencies FIRST. Read full review

Excellent product and fantastic price. I like the fact that they have separate charging stations. This feature is usually only found in the much higher priced two way radios. I have on downstairs and one upstairs so I can communicate with the family without yelling up the stairs!

Very pleasantly surprised.
Light, clear and great range. I didn't expect that any sub $20 radio could perform so well in indirect, rugged, wet forest but it does. You do have to buy the cable, download the software and program it if you want custom channels. The channels that come preprogrammed on it do not match US or Canada GMRS channels.
