The wood scales on this knife are incredible...almost luminous w/ beautiful figuring. Edge could have been sharper but that was easily fixed w/ careful strokes on ceramic sharpener and leather strop. Quality of fit and finish seems easily equal to the 2 Buck 110's I own ( My Bucks are USA Made, all Schrades these days are made in China...sorry, but I have to be honest). I can't honestly say how it stacks up to the 110s under hard use...this Schrade is too pretty to use in the field, and Bucks have a hard reputation to beat (so do the old USA Schrades). Fine quality brown leather sheath as seen in the picture, but picture doesn't do justice to the wood scales on my knife. I'd like to see someone do a real life hard use comparison test between the current USA Buck 110s and one of the large Schrades (Bear Claw or Golden Bear)..I'm sure there'll be a video on YouTube. But if you want a real pretty knife to carry on your belt for everyday use, get this specific model w/ Ironwood scales.Read full review

Have owned a number of Schrade Old Timer knives over the years. Always a good product for the reasonable cost. Well designed, feels good in hand, holds edge and when re-edging is required, fairly simple procedure!! This is the second Schrade Golden Bear Lockback I have purchased, First was misplaced on a recent camping trip. That should speak for it's self!

Great hunting knife that holds an edge. Have had one for many , many years and have misplaced it so I bought another one. I used two coats of neats foot oil on the case to soften and protect it some
