The AMD FX-9370 processor seats in an AM3+ socket to provide hard-to-match multitasking and power from the first native 8-core desktop CPU. Sporting an AMD Turbo Core technology that acts to increase performance for applications that need it, this unit can handle multiple intensive applications with ease, boosting the clock speed from its base 4.4 GHz to its turbo clock of 4.7 GHz. This makes it one of the better CPUs available to meet intensive gaming requirements, demanding 3D modeling programs, and HD video editing and rendering. The FX series processors are all unlocked for easy overclocking through AMD OverDrive technology. Keep in mind that drawing 220 watts as one of the most powerful chips on the market, you'll need a cooling system that can keep up with it.The FX-9370 processor is strong enough to handle nearly anything that you can throw at it. With 8 MB of L2 cache memory and another 8 MB of shared L3 cache, you can count on it to offer fast performance even when running multiple applications at once. The inclusion of instruction expansions on the FX-9370 like AVX, FMA4 and XOP, and AES bring a number of speed improvements. AVX allows for an improvement in parallel processing for scientific and rendering applications that rely on floating-point calculations. There are also onboard dual 128-bit floating point engines to further improve calculation speed. FMA4 and XOP instruction sets improve calculation throughput on integer and floating point vector functions, which are important functions in both video game calculations and image rendering. The AES is a simple improvement, but it has a significant impact on encryption and decryption performance.Marking an impressive step forward in terms of raw power and streamlined computing, the AMD FX-9370 leverages a Smart Cache system that improves core scheduling and pre-fetch, allowing you to make the most of all eight cores. The Intel QPI system, HyperTransport technology replaces the antiquated FSB, providing a 16-bit link at 5.6GT/s. Generation 3.0 HyperTransport compatible hardware can achieve up to 16GB/s, 8.0 GB/s without overclocking, and as much as 37 GB/s from the CPU to the system. This makes for an incredibly fast processor that can push and pull as much data as is necessary to keep everything running at blazing speeds.AMD was not content to stop at the CPU, so they provided a number of technologies specifically designed to wring the maximum amount of performance from a chip that already operates at a blistering 4.4 GHz. Virtualization Technology with IOMMU provides a wide number current and future improvements in virtualized environments. This increases the reliability and security of virtualized applications, while also allowing them direct access to their allocated memory. Very Good CPU
Works well in gaming and in win apps, however like all FX CPU's does not work well for video or audio rendering. I have a liquid cooler on the CPU but it strains so hard in video rendering that I have to throttle it myself from 4.8 Ghz to 4.4 Ghz or it pulls too much power and overheats. In gaming however I can way overclock it and it just ticks away, no problem. I have it paired with an EVGA Nvidia 970 GTX. These work well together, giving my best gaming experience to date.
