Solar panel works to keep pickup battery trickle charged won't overcharge battery because it shuts off at night and on really cloudy days. But even fairly cloudy days it charges!! Up to 21 volts open circuit comes down to 12-14 when charging battery the picture is on a pretty cloudy day when it was snowing

This solar panel worked just fine. The major problem is that it is so small the current output is so tiny that it will take forever to charge a battery. I purchased this to actually charge a battery rather than maintain its voltage. This battery powers a gate opener that gets used several times a day. I live in Southern New Mexico so there is no shortage of sunshine. I simply needed a larger panel that could provide more amperage thus more power to actually charge a battery and not just maintain its voltage. I will use this small solar panel to keep several smaller batteries charged. Batteries for my camera, my phone and my drone all need a constant charge or the LED lights will over time drain the batteries.

Got this to be the battery maintainer for my little RV when not using. I had already mounted a controller in a waterproof junction box and solar port right next to the battery, and I am using the Jack-It bike mount to hold the panel. I did have to use an SAE connector gender changer as my main solar set up is made by Zamp, and their connectors are reverse polarity compared to this panel and most of the solar market. Seems to be a good quality panel. I haven't used the connector cables that also came with the set, but they seem fine. Wire is a bit thin, but at the low trickle amperage the panel supplies it shouldn't matter. Just don't use them as a connector with a high output panel. I'm interested to see how long the elastic strap and frame last out in the weather. I seem to remember reading somewhere in the literature that came with the product that it was made to be weather resistant. Even if the elastic breaks down in the weather, I'll just rig up another way to hold it. So far so good! I'll probably be buying a couple more to rig up for a couple of friend's boats! I am using it on my sailboat to keep the battery charged up. So far it has worked great. I like it a lot better than my old plug in charger. I don't have to leave an electrical line on the dock. There is also less of a chance of a malfunction that would cause a fire on my boat. The solar panel is small but it easily does the job of keeping my battery charged up.
