The Lumia 1520 is a heck of a phone! The quality of the camera, screen, calls and OS are excellent. Battery life is really great and in day to day use for me I can take it off the charger at 7AM and at 8PM my battery is still at around 80%. In a typical day I probably have about 10 phone conversations, listen to about an hour of music to and from work and I take a few photos. Drawbacks are few but they could be big ones for some people. This phone is HUGE! I carry it in the breast pocket of my shirt but in a pants pocket would be less than ideal. At work the phone sits out of the way on a shelf throughout the day and I pick it up only when it is in use. The phone is also quite heavy again this is a consequence of the large size of the phone, it's screen and the battery.
This is the perfect phone for my needs, with a 128GB micro sdhc it's my mp3 player to replace my broken zune, phone obviously which I have paired with a Jabra extreme bluetooth, calls are crystal clear even when off roading with the windows down. The Windows OS 8.1 is great, I'm a heavy user with the camera, the office tools and reading ebooks and after a 12 hour day I still have about 45 to 50% battery. So for only minor gripes with apps but nothing that would push me away from Windows phones. It's a big phone, add a protective case and it gets bigger, keep that in mind. I'm a fairly big guy at 6'1" and 232 pounds so it fits in my jean pockets easily. My hands can use this in portrait or landscape mode easily. Fast performance with AT&T service and even faster on my wifi. There are lots of good windows phones in the Lumia line but this one with miscro sd card slot, hardware performance and ease of use is again perfect for me. It replaced my broken zune, a new phone, ereader, and with this size I've no need for a tablet. It's an awesome all in one device for me.Read full review
Let's talk about the unlock features... Other carries do not like us buying our phone this way. So they make it hard for us to use them on anything except Main Carrier. The stuff that T-Mobile told me to place in my phone to make it work better was wrong. I removed all the stuff that they added and just trained it on to T-Mobile network and that was all I had to do it work fine now. Carriers are just out for more money so keep that in mind. Now for the Phone itself; The Battery life was not as advertised. In fact it is a lot lower but very useable. The Display was great and look and feel was great. Camera use it a little hard to get to understand what does what, but with a lot of testing and trying it out and just practice a lot and you'll over come that fairly easy. Ease of use has a learning curve from the 900ser Nokia. Just different Nokia apps from the other one. Setting system and set up was a lot better and more features, so that was a big plus. Cost was ok, I paid about 60 dollars more than I needed to. Found others that were a little cheaper... Nutshell: the Nokia Lumia 1520 is the phone I would recommend to because of its size... It is very large and that can be a hindrance to some people. I just loved the Cortana interface and use it total to the max for everything. It is a great personal assistant for messaging, emailing scheduling reminders, calls, and Skype calls as well, general information, weather and time, flights info, dinner times at restaurant, and a whole bunch more. Kids would love the fastness of the unit but it would need to be a little smaller... maybe?Read full review
Got mine refurbished but still looks like new, Glass screen is very durable as well as the plastic case back, doesn't seem to scratch or at least I haven't yet, opens fast any task I have tried, large screen so I can see it better and type easier (I'm old) haven't run any specific tests on the battery but for me it lasts 3-4 days with light usage. One of the biggest reasons I purchased this was it's camera, I had a 928 which took great pictures and this one does also, best of any phone I've seen. It has a high definition screen which is very bright and crisp. The windows operating system is a little limiting on what you can download but there's lots of alternative aps in the store, many are free of course, Over all I'm very happy with it after a month of use, I would like to add it is fairly large so small hands will have to come up with a creative alternative for normal phone use, keep in mind it's gonna take up more space in your purse or pocket but it's well worth a little inconvenience.Read full review

This is the best phone ever. Large, clear display. Loud speaker, which I need at my age...smile. Easy to setup and use. Unbeatable. I'm glad I took the plunge. The only problem I had with it was with the Internet Sharing. I never could get it to be a hotspot for my other devices. EVERY other function works flawlessly. One day I'll get to the bottom of the hotspot issue and I'll be 100% satisfied. Until then, I'm in the high 90's. Battery life is off the charts. I always had to worry about running out of battery during the day with my old S5. Not with this baby. I can surf the net and listen to music all day long and when I plug it up at night it's still above 50 percent. Bottom line... I'm buying another one as a backup so I'll never be without one.
