The 1930 Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar is the most common date of the series in Mint State. PCGS alone has certified over 4,000 Uncirculated 1930 Quarters, most often in MS-64 and usually with a Full Head. High grade examples feature a crisp, sharp luster and great eye appeal in a variety of untoned and toned formats.
According to the June 1934 issue of The Numismatist (p. 416), collectors could still purchase Uncirculated 1930 Quarter Dollars for "the face value of the coins and an amount sufficient to cover the mail charrges by first-class mail."
The Most Beautiful Minted United States Coin: The Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar
When Theodore Roosevelt was President, he sent a letter to the Director of the U.S. Mint in which he described our coinage as "hideous atrociousness" and wanted to create coinage that would display incredible beauty. He had the nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and the $10 and $20 gold pieces all redesigned to what has been described as the Renaissance era of US coinage: the most beautiful US coins ever created. The Standing Liberty quarter is considered the most beautiful U. S. quarter ever created. In gem brilliant uncirculated condition with a full head strike, it is a gorgeous work of art. Coins in this condition are very rare and can command several hundreds of dollars due to their scarcity. This is because it took incredible pressure to fully strike this coin and the full head details were quickly worn off of the dies that struck the coin so a full head version will command a much higher premium when purchased. The U. S. Mint is, in fact issuing a solid gold restrike this year and it will be a huge success with collectors. Earlier this year the mint issued a solid gold 1/10th once restrike of the Mercury Dime that sold out in 20 minutes when it went on sale. If you want to own some of the most beautiful coins ever created in the United States, check out the Buffalo Nickel, the Mercury Dime, the Standing Liberty Quarter, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, The $10 Indian Head Gold and the St. Gaudens $20 Gold pieces. You will be blown away by the absolute beauty of these coins! Thank you Theodore Roosevelt! John LannanRead full review
