Have used all types of track including traditional Lionel O-72, K-line O and Shadow rail, MTH Realtrax, Atlas O, Cargraves which are all good to very good and get the job done for you. But if you want the best, smooth operation including switches with the best conductivity and you’re not too particular about a prototypical or traditional Lionel look, then Lionel Fastrack is clearly the best. This track is well engineered and durable. The track to track contacts are thick solid rail which slide side by side with each other creating a long contact surface improving conductivity. The switches operate so smoothly and are finished so well that you can barely tell that the train is running through them. It has integral ballast that looks good. It’s a fine product.

Track was new but had to trim rails on one side as it looks like mfg has left rail about .040 long which prevented lock into fully seat.. Die grind a wee bit and all ok. Only reason it was not 4-5 stars

072 FasTrack is excellent for locomotives having a long wheel base as the locomotive pan pull freight on curves and not jump the track. The roadbed also provides good support for large size locomotives.
