In design, it is similar to an Atlas hand-crank pasta maker. It comes with 4 cutting heads; 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 9mm. I bought it to make udon noodles. It does a fine job. Since I do not read Japanese, the instruction manual/recipe book was not that helpful but the use of the machine is easy to figure out. I rated it at 4 stars rather than 5 because all of the pieces are plastic. It is easy to disassemble for cleaning though you have to make sure that you don't reverse the orientation of the cutter blades.
