The Optimus clip on windshield is fixed in a semi circle and not collapsible, so no faffing around to assemble it. It simply fits around the neck of the gas canister. It fits around my mug and canister so doesn’t take up any extra room in my pack and there are no sharp edges. It is light at only 90g and probably lighter than some homemade windshields I’ve seen. Though I have only tried it in my back garden when it was quite windy, it was very effective against a reasonably good wind (speed not measured, but not a gale). The bad points for me are that it is 10.5cm tall, thus too tall for my original MSR pocket rocket which is 9cm tall with the pot arms out. As it rises above the pot stand arms by 1.5cm, and only forming a semi circle, it means only half my cooking pot is supported making it unstable. Hence the 3 stars. I would recommend it where the pot is small or where it can fit inside the windshield. I do like the design and the easy way it fits around the canister, so despite the negative points. I will be keeping it, I will just have to shave off 15mm for it to be stable with my pocket rocket.Read full review
