I bought the Feather Popular after reading the reviews of it right here, and I wasn't disappointed! I was getting back to double edge shaving after using disposables and cartridges--II have sensitive skin so I do appreciate those--but I found that the Feather Popular and a years' worth of blades costs as much as good quality disposables or cartridges. My concerns were about materials and safety. The materials were not a concern--this is a razor that will last you a while, years in fact. (I've had mine six months, no sign of any trouble.) As to safety--well, I'm not the best wet shaver, which is why I dabble in cartridges too. The first shave was trouble: multiple cuts. Very soon after that I found the correct angle at which to hold the razor and I didn't cut myself again. This is one of the mildest razors I've ever used, and, considering the price it's a bargain. I use it in rotation with two other razors that cost me much much more. It works best with Feather blades but it works well with much cheaper ones too.Read full review

The razor works quite well - it holds the blade correctly and is nice and light. My only complaint is that the small metal end has already started to rust significantly...which is a bit shocking since the bulk of the razor is plastic and the only exposed metal at the end is the weak point.

It is solid, good balanced razer. The control on it is easy, which make this razor good for non-experience buyer in safety-razor a good option for start. The quality of the shaving it is satisfieded, let say not top, but around the middle. Which i didn't like is that this razor it is a little bit "too safety" and you cannot fo into the deep water and play a lot with the angle when you shaving. Could be a perfect traveling razor. Regading the blades - only positives - i use them since 2-3 years and are one of the best market options, comparable price, top quality. My best regards to the producer, that they decide to put so good quality safety-razor on the market on this price. Beat most of the razors in category even till 30-40 dollars.

Very lightweight and plasticy feeling makes it good for travel. I wouldn't recommend it for daily use, however, if your new to safety razor shaving this might be a good entry-level razor. For a few dollars more you could get a Merkur 34C that would save you money by not buying this. This is more like a razor for someone who uses a safety razor and wants one to take on vacation. No worries if you leave it behind. Comes with two Feather™ blades but not sure if they ate Feather's best blades. I do like the case which accommodates the razor and blades so that's a nice thing. It's lightweight so you may have to use a little gentle pressure to get the shave you need or shave more than once. For less than 13 dollars, send from Japan proper, and no sales tax, you really can't go wrong.

I bought one of these for my father after he'd been dropping hints every time the commercial with the guy from Pawn Stars came on, that he was thinking about getting one. So I did some research. Research to me is hours on end (10-12 for this particular buy), searching and reading. I came across a forum dedicated to safety razors, straight razors, and shaving brushes called, The Blade and Badger. I also read a ton of reviews on Amazon (this razor seems to be one of their top selling and highest rated razors). The reviews were very positive from everyone and many used it as their daily driver even though they own a bunch of much more expensive razors. I was more than willing to plunk down the money for a more expensive razor for my father's birthday, but quality always beats price. Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it's high quality and vice versa. He loves this razor and uses it every day. I'm buying another one for him so he can keep one at his other house upstate. Also, they highest rated blades are the Feather Hi-Steel (which come with this razor).Read full review

I bought it for business trips because at home I use one of the most classic DE Razor Edwin Jagger DE89. So I can compare this Feather Popular (FP) with EJ DE89. FP is much lighter and less aggressive. But combination of non-aggressive razor and the sharpest blade gives very smooth shaving (first moment I thought I forgot to insert blade in FP). I like heavy weight and metal of classic DE razors but this Feather Popular with Feather blade provides almost the same result (and for 3 times lower price). That's why I can recommend this razor (when use with Feather blades)

This is an excellent starter razor and will be part of my travel kit. It is a light razor so the change from cartridge to DE razors is an easy move. Great value comes with Feather blades which are of excellent quality.

I use this razor for 5 months already, and like everything about it. Awesome shave, no irritation, no cuts (unless the blade went dull, that is), reasonably priced. While a butterfly razor, the blade sits tight as it should and doesn't wobble, unlike some other similarly priced razors. Overall 10/10. I personally use this razor with Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades from India. While not as sharp as Feather included with the razor, they are very smooth. If you decide to follow my example, be sure to buy blades of this brand from India, not Germany - the latter are not sharp enough.

Got this razor due to problems with cartridges; expensive, poor shaves, nicks. I am impressed so far as nicks (Derby blades) have all but disappeared and quality of shave can be matched with other blades. Feather blades are rated some of the sharpest and not recommended for beginners(me), looking foreword to using Feather blades as my skill progresses. Price was GREAT!!!
