Many dev boards for FPGAs are covered with lights and switches. A great learning tool, not so good ifyou wantto use the board elsewhere. By placing all the switches etc. on a plug-in board, you can remove / replace that board and get increased functions. Nothing is perfect, but this is worth considering when you are starting out.

This board is made for beginners. There is a bunch of information specifically for this board, which makes it a good starter FPGA.

Very good FPGA for such a nice price. It is a bit old design (5 years old) but still very good entry level.

This is my first FPGA board that I've bought to use for my university assignments. I've had no problems with it and due to it's price, I've got my fellow students to order some too. The Mojo V3 embedded website is an excellent source of information if you're going to learn verilog, otherwise you'll have to find alternative tutorials if you're using VHDL like I am.
