I bought this amp thinking it would be good for noodling around in the living room and jamming along with records at moderate volume. When it arrived I was impressed by its good looks and myriad features. Then I turned it on. What a disappointment. This thing sounds really poor. Any distortion setting is accompanied by a tremendous amount of background noise and hiss. The "amp models" are nothing more than progressive levels of gain, each coming with an exponential increase in noise. Any of my large amps produce better tone with far less unwanted background sound. I'm not suggesting that comparing this thing to a Marshall or Mesa is fair, but isn't the job of a low power practice amp to produce crunchy tones at mild volume? I found it impossible to jam along with any rock album, because the noise (for me) simply ruins the music. The only usable tones this thing has are the squeaky clean ones, and even these are somewhat thin and trebly. I bought the Champion to replace a Roland Micro-Cube which wasn't quite loud enough. After about an hour of messing with the Fender, and trying many different guitars I put it back in the box to return. Aside from the volume issue, the Roland beats this thing hands-down. Every tone is superior, even coming from a speaker half the size. I cannot recommend this amplifier in any way.Read full review

I bought this amp for use in my home studio. I like the different amp models and the many effects, and that the back is open. I also like that the amp is simple to use, and that the settings are in the front and easy to see. The electronics are not over-computerized, which cause some amps to have the most problems. The only thing I don't like about this amp is that the power cord is a separate piece that sticks out in the back when plugged in, and can result in a loose connection with age, or even in a lost cord. I prefer a power cord that is hard-wired and pointing down into the amp's storage area. The amp's many various sound combinations are fine for my needs. No pedals are necessary. I've had other amps with many models and effects, like the Peavey Viper, Line 6 Spiders, Vox, Crate and more, but the Fender Champion (like the similarly equipped Fender Bullet and DSP amps) is my favorite. I give it 4/5 because of the power cord, and because there is no 4.5/5 choice.Read full review
This is a great small practice amp that will save you money. It has multiple effects and voices built in that eliminate the need for a row of effects pedals. Granted quickly switching effects is not going to happen, but for a at home practice amp it will more than suffice. The tap to time function for the delay and chorus effects is great and offers a lot of variance. As a casual musician this may be the only amp you will ever need.

If you need a small practice amp with looks and plenty of sound options, this is the best one on the market. No, it doesn’t sound just like a Twin, a Vibrolux, or a Bassman. It’s a $130 amp with an 8” speaker that weighs 12lbs. Purchased mine for back porch jamming. The amp models are good and the effects are fun. It’s got a mini aux in for plugging in an iPod. It’s portable and light.

I was more than pleased with the capability of this amp. Sound is Killer with a nice variety of effects that are easy to get too. No need for a bunch of pedals. Killer lead voice and a pleasant rhythm voice: several voices between. Volume is amazing. Can be used on a small pro Gig and size and weight make it great for practice. This is a kick Butt amp for the money and best in its class....I have been looking and comparing....this wins hands down....very affordable.

First, the effects set up is limited in the choice of combinations, so that one would need another pedal to achieve the sound wanted. Next, the "Tap" control is annoying and limited in it's ability to give the effect the range sound one would want. It should be replaced with an "Intensity" knob with a wider range of control over the desired effect. The "specially designed" speaker is rather generic in it's response and voicing. Finally, I believe it's overpriced, and, that a price of $60.00 would be more appropriate.

This amp is an amazing value. I bought it because I wanted a cleaner clean channel than my small Vox tube amplifier. This amp delivers a little bit of everything including some basic effects for a bargain price.
