I got this for my wife. She wanted another Android and this one got good reviews. The battery life seemed poor when she first got it, but I haven't heard her complain since turning on the energy saving features. I think she read that the batteries are known to wear out. The phone looked to be new and in its original packaging. I might assume though that it was manufactured some time ago since it's not the latest generation of Samsung Galaxy and that may have played a role. Like I said though, it seems to be working fine for her with the current settings.
The one disappointing thing about it is that it was apparently originally distributed by AT&T. It has the AT&T flavor of Android on it, even though we use it with T-mobile. This isn't much of a limitation, although the OS does seem to lock out a few minor things which can be a little annoying. You can do a web search to learn details. I suspect very few people would ever notice the limits and so wouldn't care.
The screen itself is very bright with very vivid colors (better than I've seen on our other phones). As a smartphone, it seems to work great. We did have a small issue with a case she bought for it. Apparently, it was holding the "down volume" button pressed which caused it to always boot into "safe mode" (that's when you start finding out about the limits of the AT&T OS). We finally figured that out and got another case. That wasn't the phone's fault but thought I'd mention it in case someone else ran into a similar issue.
I was very happy with the seller. The phone arrived quickly and was nicely packed. It was unlocked as advertised and so worked on the T-mobile network like I wanted. They also included a nice little note with contact information in case we had any issues and I appreciated that. We never needed to contact them though.Read full review
I bought 2 of these phones in October 2017 for my kids for Christmas. Two days after my daughter got hers it started having problems with the screen glitching in and out, then later that night the screen turned yellowish. I emailed the company and they said because it was passed the 30 days even though my daughter just got it 2 days before there was nothing they could do. So I thought fine maybe it was just that phone was a lemon but just a week ago my son's phone started to do the same thing. So 2 phones and only 4 1/2 months of use. Be aware when you buy anything from this company!!
I'm not going into all the specifics about a GS5 as they have been replaced twice now. I will say that Samsung learned a lesson on S6 by removing the waterproofing and the expandable memory. Why any company would not allow extra storage is beyond me other than some of the Apple buyers having to buy phones with different memory capacity (and paying for it in a major way) I like being able to take my stuff from phone to phone. It's handy!!
S7 is a pretty phone. Nice rounded edges. It is stylish. I think dollar for dollar, the GS5 is one heck of a deal!! Functions very well (frst phone I've owned in 14 years that was not Motorola) and I am VERY pleased with the function of the S5. The only set back is the battery life. It's pretty awful to the point I ordered another "extended" battery that is not really extended not to mention I loose my NFC capabilities. (being able to bump to share which, once you adapt to that, is VERY handy)
Buying an S5 still to this day is a great deal. It is an excellent phone that will bring you many happy months/years of use!! (were the battery life longer, it would be a 5 star review)
If you're looking for a fast and reliable phone, the S5 is it!! The expandable memory makes it oh! the sweeter along with being able to get it wet (maybe don't go swimming but for sure, you could jump in and out of the water (pool/ stream/lake/pond) or drop it in a sink of water (or toilet for those more adventurous)
If you have a couple hundred bucks you can afford to spend, I'd say you're making an excellent choice with this phone. If you look up my profile, you'll note the last couple of Feedback sellers I used are EXCELLENT and worth shopping with. that is on phones, on tempered glass screen protectors, phone cases. All those vendors are AWESOME to deal with and very good at communicating!!!
Take care and hope you all love this phone as much as we do (wife has one, I have one, bought a spare just in case one as well!)Read full review
It looks good, it is water resistant. It was not an "unlocked" phone as advertised. The screen is large and clear. I like that you have access to the battery. The battery lasts most of the day with moderate use. Everything works well enough. I don't use many of the Samsung apps that came loaded on the phone, so I can't really comment on them. I don't change phones often, my last phone was a old Sony that I used for about 3 years. I think the Sony took better pictures, had a better speaker phone, and better music sound through the speaker and the headset. This Samsung is much larger than the Sony, easier to read and watch videos etc. It makes somewhat better use of the expanded microSD storage than the old Sony did. I like the Android 5 OS but that would be about the same on any updated phone. Over all this phone is good and I like it well enough.Read full review
My Iphone 4s wasn't holding a battery charge, if lucky may 6 hrs with very low usage. Then I had mishap with my grandsons water bottle, unfortunately this was my 2nd moisture issue. Hence phone shopping began- choose galaxy 5s for several reasons, Water resistant, wanted to switch from Iphone updates killing last phone, ease of use, able to increase memory, great camera, had problems with apple- never liked my password for log in getting apps are easier in chrome. Only problem was getting use to large size had to upgrade my small purse.
I would recommend buying one.
