About a week ago the Celeron 1007U CPU on an old Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop I bought in 2013 finally died. Thought I’d lost my data as I couldn’t turn the machine on. So I ordered a refurbished Dell Inspiron 3521 Celeron laptop (came with same features except it was a 1017U CPU). When it arrived, I removed the HDD and replaced it with the HDD from my old laptop, changed the boot settings by pressing F12 during boot, crossed my fingers...and it worked! I can’t believe it. I’m backing up family photos right now. I tried to find on the internet whether you could swap HDDs and every answer was effectively, “Theoretically, yes, but it has to be configured exactly the same, so practically, no, you can’t.” Well I have proven that it can be done. One good reason to buy mass-produced machines right there. Just like mass-produced cars - the parts are easy to find. I’m a fan of Dell computers. I know, I know, that rig you built with 4x the power at 1/4 the price is sick, but Dell machines are upgradeable and parts easy to swap.Read full review

This was more of a gimmick that was forced on the PC manufacturers by Microsoft. It comes with Windows 8 preloaded with a recovery partition that failed to create back up CD's on first use. The touch screen was a nice touch but the track-pad was way to sensitive. Even though you could touch the screen to open applications, when it came to typing, I always found that my hands would swipe the touch pad and I would be typing in the middle of previous sentences. The system is very light in weight, but the screen was widened in width and shortened in height giving the illusion of a larger screen that was just plain bulky. Windows 8.1 didn't function very well. After a couple of times turning it on, the system stopped working and would just beep. Usually the beeping would indicate a hard drive or RAM failure. Paid a computer repair center to replace them but the beeping continued. Researched the beep codes from the internet and found out that the motherboard had failed. Dell wanted several hundred dollars to replace it. Not worth the money that was wasted,Read full review

This laptop is light weight and packed full of features. Combined with Windows 10 this laptop becomes an entertainment powerhouse. With features like Touch Screen, Built in Camera, Full Size Keyboard, and HDMI you will be able to get work done and entertain family at the same time. The laptop is very affordable compared to other brands and gives you what you need the most.

I turned it in to a Chromebook for my kids during these crazy times. It works great for that and since my kid isn't carrying it around it works great.
