I have used Manfrotto tripods in the past but this one surpasses the quality of aluminum by far. It has proven to be very sturdy out in the field. Carrying it around is a joy compared to the weight of aluminum tripods. The legs are easy to pull out and snap shut.

Best tripod for the working photographer IMHO. I had the older version but left it at a gig and was gutted to lose it. Used the aluminum one for a year but so heavy and cold. The new swivel to easily change the column works very well. This is not one to stick in your back pack. I got the 190x for that. I have the 496 ball head on it for my Nikon kit. ...You will love this tripod. So quick to set up and down again as well...

An excellent tripod for my purposes: panorama and product photography. Feels stable (stiff ... but rely on thecentercolumn website for objective testing on that), light and well-designed. The ability to set the centre column in horizontal orientation is a plus. I added a Manfrotto MBAG75PN 75cm padded bag, which perfectly holds the tripod and a Markins ball head. I am 187cm tall and only need to raise the centre column to suit the panorama shot (with no tilt), so easily tall enough. All-in-all would highly recommend this tripod.

Tried out several tripods in aluminum and carbon fiber including the Manfrotto 190 and discovered that the carbon fiber Manfrotto 190 vibrated (oscillated) less than the aluminum 190 . Both 190 versions vibrated more than the heavier Manfrotto 055 aluminum with my Tamron 150-600 G2 and Nikon D500 combo. I didn't have a carbon fiber 055 to test but took a gamble and am very, very pleased with the stability of this unit. My only hesitation is that I chose the 3 segment leg version over the 4 segment with the rationalization that fewer segments would be more rigid, with only anecdotal evidence. Based on specs, the 4 leg segment version is more compact and would be easier to pack than mine. Still all said you have to love the quality.

I did a lot of research before buying this tripod. Over the years I have been through at least a dozen of the darn things. I find they are either great or a waste of time with not much in between. This is a very good one. I now prefer snap locks over twist locks. These are well designed and tend not to catch on grass and other stuff as I move through the landscape. It is very strong with good wide diameter tube. Very well finished. The central column can be lifted up and extended out ninety degrees to the side which can be good for macro or filming as it gives you some for and aft movement (poor man's rails). It is very light and has full heaight without the central column being raised at all for an EOS and a 6ft photographer. The only very slight annoyance is that it is a little fidly releasing the central column. Otherwise with my Acharac head and gimbol it is a great bit of kit.Read full review

If you have pro equipment with big lenses - like the 300mm 2.8, or 70-200, with pro bodies like the D810 and larger, this is a terrific piece of equipment. It is not, however, my only tripod. I have the smaller 190 and smaller head as well for travel, but this is so far and above better than the aluminum version it's ridiculous. The 3-piece makes it easier to open and close, and the added heft of the bigger 055 legs and construction seems to work so much more smoothly than the smaller versions. It took me a couple years to convince myself to spend this kind of extra money, but it's totally worth it. Don't go cheap on something like this. Get the good one and be done with it. I'm glad I did.

It's near professional tripod. This tripod was recommend to me colleague, he have this tripod with head from Manfrotto MVH502AH (this head he was recommend to me too), because I need that to hold big weight (like slider with camera). Almost everything is great. Only two things I don't like for this price: there is no bag and to get is straight need move legs.
