I bought this cd for one song, the title track. Since I first heard it, I've been unable to get through the whole song without breaking down in tears. My father died when I was a kid, it just hits so close to home. It's a trial to try to get through it without breaking. But it just shows the strength of the gift the writer has in penning such a touching song. Which isn't to say the other songs aren't just as brilliant. I enjoy all of them. It takes a special genius to put into words the things so many of us feel and think, but can't string it together in a sentence much less something as reaching as the music here. And while it hurts, I feel like I'm making just a little bit more progress in dealing with my daddy's death Give it a try. See which songs touch the heart of you.

In The Living Years is such a great song. It means so much to me because my father went away in my youth on December 24, 1959. He was sick and went into the VA hospital for about 10 years. His sickness left him with permanent brain damage and no comprehension of time. He would beat me with a switch when I was young when he felt I did wrong and I never got to ask him about why he did that because he didn’t remember. On the day he passed away, on February 14, 1980, I was not there. I was a thousand miles away in Arizona and I found out about his passing from my sister Sandra. Someday I will get to talk to him and ask him why. Until then I love him and will continue to listen to the song “In The Living Years” playing in my computer CD player with my full ear cover headphones on and allowing the song to add so much to my being and my life. Thank you Mike and the Mechanics. Thank you. I purchased 3 copies of the CD and play it in my truck, my computer and my CD player on my porch all the time and I will be buying more. --------Read full review
this CD has 2 well played songs on it. a lot of good, less played songs. these guys were big in the 80s. never hear them much any more they do have songs on you tube. some of the FM stations play songs from this CD. look for an 80s station. the night clubs, well good luck, and hope the club owner like 80s music.
I loved the music then and love it now! Reminds me of my father and how the family endured his illness and eventual passing from cancer. The living years were good times in my life and this music came along and helped me get through the toughest time of my life. I could relate the message being sent.
I’ve got a Mike and Mechanic s Cd, pleased with it, this one just misses the mark, Sorry
