Excellent soldering station with versatile soldering tips.
The iron's cradle and sleep mode is very good feature. The key allows for quick changes to temperature settings. The key helps to remove any unwanted changes that could be made. Tip design keeps area that requires the heat to allow for good solder flow with the other area kept below the excessive heat. Overall this is a good soldiering station.

Flexible solder station
Hakko FX951 has very useful features. The solder pencil is light weight in construction, balance is good and the hand piece to solder tip is short which makes it more comfortable to use. A wide variety of tip sizes and styles are available, it comes with five different types, T15-D08,D12,D24,D32, and D52. A nice feature is the solder pencil goes into sleep mode when placed into the solder stand, this helps extend tip life. Two things I find awkward, changing tip temperature and the location of the key. Both of those items need refinement. When it gets down to using this solder station, it has the power to make quick and clean solder connections. I have the Hakko FX-888d solder station and I prefer the FX951 for most of my work.

A soldering iron for tiny, fragile surface mount work.
I needed a soldering iron with adjustable temp and available very small tips, which this unit has. Still waiting for my small tips to show up. I am still looking for a supply of the color coded tip sleeves to organize my set of tips. Those are hard to find! Shown on the Hakko website, but no actual part numbers associated.
