Didn't know if I really needed to upgrade from my Sony TV base speaker, but the sound is significantly better. The thing that really made it worth the extra coin is the Apple Airplay. Now its not just a TV speaker, I can go into my living room and hear what I was playing in the kitchen and or bedroom. Added the sub a few weeks later and the sound is truly insane.

I went from TV speakers to Sonos 5.1 system (playbase, 2xone, subwoofer) and was not impressed at all by the difference. They are probably the best wireless speakers available, but i realize i could have matched or even improved the quality with a system with analog input, plus paid for concealing the cables and still save money.
