As a supplement to our Roku, we have the Acer Chromebook hooked up to our tv via HDMI. Mirroring the display to the tv was no problem. We did this because it can browse to some sites that Roku can't, and it can do it in a speedy enough fashion. Be sure to have AdBlock Plus or the original Adblock as an extension on the browser to avoid website ads. It's a snappy browser and it was easy and cheap to add another 2gb stick of RAM (the one in it was DDR3 10600 but we added DDR3 12800, and it was backwards compatible with the 10600). The 16gb solid state hard drive is small, but Google Chrome doesn't run many of the pc programs you might be familiar with. It's based on Linux but really stands as its own operating system. It's lightweight and perhaps somewhat delicate when compared to a notebook. Should you ever need the screen replaced, they aren't as inexpensive as most, and the exact replacement part number is b116Xw03 v.2 (not v.0 or v.3, as the mounting brackets are different). Hope this helps someone.Read full review
I'm pleased with my purchase. The build quality is sturdier than the 2012 Samsung Chromebook that I had before, battery life is better, and over all performance is much improved with the Haswell Celeron. The only complaint that I have is the keyboard. It's perfectly serviceable -- it's done quite a bit of writing on it so far -- but it's not a nice as the keyboard on the Samsung Chromebook I used previously. For $150, sturdier build, greatly improved performance, and better battery life, the slight downgrade is keyboard is worth it. It's a keyboard that I could live with for the new price of $200 as well, but not much more.
excellent laptop connected to charger and works very excellent. battery is very good also

Yeah, I love this machine as my casual daily-use computer, school computer, and penetration testing machine. The ability to boot multiple Linux distros simultaniously is incredible and fun, and the netbook does a bang-up job for every day tasks (word processing, YouTubing/Netflixing, and Linuxing). Thanks to Google Drive and Google Play Music, I only need to boot up my real computer when I want to record music or play a game; which means I sometimes happily go for weeks living off this Chromebook. All for ~$120. I started out getting a Samsung Chromebook Series 3, which is equally useful for the average user (and perhaps slightly more powerful due to the ARM processor), but quickly decided to get this Acer; so I could actually install programs in Kali and Ubuntu. While Samsung's version is perfectly fine, I prefer the Acer's chassis (well, mainly the screen's hinges). Although, the Acer does have a fan; so it's not completely free of moving parts like the Samsung was. Sadly the single-core processor is noticeable when running Kali, or when there are too many windows open; but overall it gets the job done.Read full review
I bought this computer to run linux. I've only tried ChromeOS briefly, so I can't comment on Chromebook usage. I've loaded Xubuntu 14.04, and I love the snappy performance. No need to worry about the 2 GB installed memory; I've had no slowdowns even with 15 Firefox tabs open. Movies, music and Humble Bundle games run perfectly. I leave an imperceptible Sandisk Fit 64 GB USB drive in the computer for file storage. Works great. Just follow the Arch Linux instructions, and you'll have a fast, ultralight linux laptop in no time! Pros: Good performance, lightweight, inexpensive, linux-friendly Cons: USB storage needed
Products are as promised. The products are fairly light, quick and easy to use. Only downside is that they are not as offline friendly.
Machine is very nice for a starter computer user, very quick and no issues. Screen could be a bit brighter and the wifi had issues with WPA-TKIP, had to set the router to WPA2-AES as per google's help site, working good after this. My dad is happy with it, he's a very very basic beginner user, netflix, email and webpages.
This is great! Very simple to use and does 95% of what I need (probably more if I worked even a little bit at finding solutions). Light and portable. Works great with my Android phone. I am using it mostly for web surfing and web applications, looking at movies, and listening to music. Wonderful device.
Works great! Amazing price!
