In earlier Sims games, players interact with a household of virtual computer people. In The Sims 3, players interact with an entire neighborhood. Instead of playing each family discretely on its individual lot, players can now take their characters anywhere in town -- to a friend's house, out to a restaurant, to a favorite park, or even to work. No matter which Sim the player is currently following, however, all the characters in the neighborhood are active whenever the game is being played. Events that take place on the other side of town can have an effect on situations all across the neighborhood, just as the player's characters may influence the rest of the community with their actions (or inaction). Sims are now quick to pull out their mobile phones and keep one another informed, even if only about the latest gossip.
The Create-A-Sim system in the Sims 3 refines the powerful tools featured in the Sims 2. Players have much more finely graduated control over many physical aspects of the characters they create. For example, a slider allows a choice of any size and shape between rail-thin and very overweight, instead of offering only three set body types, and a second slider controls the character's muscularity. To a greater degree than the previous game's character editor, the new tools give players the power to create recognizable Sim versions of people they know (or would like to know). Sims personalities are now determined by up to five distinguishing traits, such as "hot headed," "conversationalist," "clumsy," "great cook," "slob," "good sense of humor," and even "neurotic" or "paranoid." Players can choose from more than 60 available traits when they create each new Sim.
As in earlier Sims games, players are free to make use of the built-in houses that come with the game, customize them however they see fit (and have the Simoleons to afford), or tear them down completely and build their own from scratch. The build mode offers players more customization as well, with a smaller grid from more precise placements, and the ability to rotate most objects to any angle. Stores, services, and places of work for the game's 12 career paths are all available throughout the neighborhood. Players can't enter these buildings to watch a favorite Sim at work, but they can follow him there, and then back home again when his shift is done. Console gamers get the added bonus of using Karma Powers to spur their Sim into action. The "Get Lucky" power, for example, may quickly lead to amorous situations, while the "Epic Fail" power is sure to cause embarrassing mishaps. Players must be cautious when using these powers, however, because they may result in unexpected and disastrous results.

I really like Sims games. It is different than the PS2 genre, more things to buy in the Build/ Buy mode. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes these types of games. i love buying new furniture & wallpaper. I'd give it a great rating for entertainment. Kids can play this as it is less violent than others. I have other games of this genre.
Sombody shoulda told me that there is a flaw in all versions of this game. I loved the sims for ps2
What a change
You create the people and then they.won't become saved.
If there was any confusion about what you're getting with the Sims 3 on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, let me clear it up for you: it's the Sims 3, the extremely popular PC life simulator, but on consoles. Obviously the game has been reworked to function with controllers instead of a mouse and keyboard, but there's also one other major addition: Karma Powers, a potent way to help or harm your Sims. If you're a fan of the Sims series, chances are you already own this game on your PC, but on the off chance that you don't, the console version is a good substitute.
The addictive formula that worked on PCs translates well to consoles, and you may find yourself neglecting your own needs to make sure your starving Sim gets some food. The controls may seem complicated at first, but the game does a fine job of easing you into the experience with its tutorial system. Once you get the hang of it, it's really quite easy.Read full review
I liked the SIMS when it came out on PS. I also got it, for my girlfriend, when SIMS 2 came out on PS2. I loved SIMS 2 just because you actually control your sim. no more point and clicking to get them to do something. You would just walk up to an item and press x to see the options. Unfortunately, the reverted to the original for SIMS 3. I don't like that aspect, but it's a minor detraction for an otherwise good game. The options in this installment are plentiful. If you can think it, you can pretty much to it in the sims. I like the game alot. First night i spent a good 4 hours that flew by. There are a few more things that keep this game form being great. First of is a co-op mode. Playstation 2 had it for SIMS 2 but PS3 doesn't for SIMS 3. But I guess that seems necessary for the old control scheme. Another grip, as is my grip with every SIMs game. Once you get a career, there is little time for anyhting else. SO, even thought there is a robust town that your sims can explore, you never have time for it. Just wish that my sim would saty clean enough, or full enough to wander the streets of simville. Other than that, I must say that it's a very good game.Read full review
Die Hard Sims Fan? PC - Console User? Only have a console?
Downs: Cannot import PC creations, only console to console creations (XBOX to PS3, visa versa), limited graphic capabilities, limited interface options, loading times, limited creation opportunities, frame rate shutters on the regular. Limited everything, hey it is a console game, what is new...
Ups: A decent representation of The Sims in a new way. I had never played The Sims on a console before, and I gave it a shot. It is worthwhile mainly because you can take The Sims with you, play on a bigger tv, etc. etc. There was opportunity to make it better, but hey you get PS3 trophies and it is something different if you have never played a console version!
Overall: If you enjoy The Sims in any form or regularity, it is worthwhile (Anything Below $35). I do recommend finding it new or if it is used, make sure that the registration for the online portion of the game, The Exchange (download custom creations, share, etc.) has not been used. Otherwise you will pay $10 to get it activated through PSN.
Hopefully this has helped in your decision, I am pretty good at diagnosing games just by the box, and I was right on the money. These impressions are just from playing it for under an hour.Read full review
