If you have one of the older laptops that this unit works with, it is a a very nice piece. As always Lenovo rarely lets you down and this piece is no exception. I always get a thinkpad because they make them easy to work on and repair but also because you can get a nice dock for them. Make using it at the home office simple, just drop it on the dock and push the power button. Leave all the mobile accessories in your bag.

I bought this so that I could use the the matching laptop with a larger display. The genius engineers at IBM didn't bother to remember that most users of these devices are middle aged and need a larger display. Fortunately for me, I was able to get this solution which makes me oh so much happier and also allows me to coexist with same. This mini dock works well. It has 4 usb ports, 1 display port, dvi port, and vga port. It's got an audio out and mic in port for your audio needs. There is also an Ethernet port and power line in port which allows you to charge your computer while it is set on the dock. It is nice to be able to attach my monitor, headphones, and usb accessories to the dock and not have to plug anything into my laptop when I need to use it at home. I usually carry a spare charger around when I'm out and about and the dock charger can stay at home. Some of these docks come with keys so that you can lock your computer to the dock. This particular dock doesn't support USB 3.0, but I think there are others that do.
