The All Balls inner primary upgrade is perfect in theory. It replaces a dumb idea, using a race to take up the inner diameter of the inner primary bearing with a nice closed bearing and seal kit that fits perfectly on the output shaft. If it lasts at least 20,000 miles, it'll be a great purchase. If it doesn't, and I have to open up the primary again soon, it'll be a worthless piece of junk. Only time will tell.

I decided to replace the factory inner primary main shaft bearing while doing a compensatory upgrade. I could not decide between the All Balls and the Baker High Torque so I bought both. I have a 2007 Road King and I was not able to use the All Balls bearing because it is twice as wide as the factory bearing. This was not a surprise as All Balls states the bearing fits 1990 through 2006; however, I wanted to see the bearing. On the 2007 the bearing is held into the primary by the casting and a snap ring, pre 07 bearings are held in place by 2 snap rings. To install the wider bearing you simply leave out the inner snap ring and the bearing is held in place by the clutch basket. This will not work on the 07 because the casting prevents the bearing from seating far enough into the inner primary. Ultimately I used the Baker High Torque. That being said I am really impressed with the All Balls and would have used it had I been able to make it fit. The All Balls has two rows of bearing that are designed to spread the force of the drive train over a larger area of the main shaft, this is always a good thing. The all balls also came with two new snap rings and a quality oil seal. if you have a 1990 through 2006 I recommend the All Balls, My factory bearing and race had significant wear that is a strong indication of a future failure and my bike only has 23,000 miles.Read full review
