I broke the exhaust bolt the furthest back on my fatboy. It left 1/4 inch of the bolt sticking out. I tried everything to get it out. Vice grips, heat, cutting a slit in it and a screwdriver, and at the end an easy out. Nothing worked. I ordered the Jims tool. 5 days later it showed up. They give you a drill bit but it was too short to get to the bolt. I went and bought a 12 inch drill bit the same size 1/4 inch. I used a cordless dewalt drill. I put the Jims tool on there and started drilling. It took recharging the battery twice to get all the way through the bolt. The tool worked flawlessly. It kept the drill bit straight as an arrow. After, i drilled it, i took a 5/16-18 tap (i recommend a pointed tap) and i tapped the hole removing what little thread was left from the drill bit. I installed the exhaust bolt, cleaned up, and was back on the road. Buy this tool if you want to do it right. It costs a little but is well worth it and i have the tool on the shelf if i ever need it again.Read full review

I was very impressed with the quality on this piece. Nicely machined and anodized aluminum plate with a hardened drill bushing. This product is well made and accurate. I had to remove both heads for gasket leaks so I bought this plate to fix a broken stud on each. The plate worked perfectly. The only issue was that the cutting edge on the included hss drill bit started to break down halfway through the second stud. I switched to a cobalt and it finished like a champ. Altogether much less money than taking the heads to a machine shop.

Worked like a charm and drilled a perfectly straight hole. The jig fit perfectly and tightly into the exhast port ensuring the exactly centered hole. One note I have is to have a spare drill bit available. The one supplied is good quality but even with constant oiling on low speeds the supplied bit dulled out and stopped cutting half way through drilling out the broken oem grade 6 stud.

Worked exactly has intended. Saved me from removing head and going to the machine shop. I did upgrade the 1/4" drill bit and it does take some patience. Eventually you will get through. 5/16-18 tap, cutting oil and patience with that as well.

I broke the top stud off on the back cylinder and was looking at $500+ to get it fixed in a shop. A friend if mine that owns a shop told me about this tool and it worked perfectly. Just don’t plan on it being a 5 minute job those bolts are hard abs it took 2 bits to cut through them. Bike us back together and it worked perfectly.
