Join intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in her first new 2D Metroid story in 19 years Samus' story continues after the events of the Metroid Fusion game when she descends upon planet ZDR to investigate a mysterious transmission sent to the Galactic Federation. The remote planet has become overrun by vicious alien lifeforms and chilling mechanical menaces. Samus is more agile and capable than ever, but can she overcome the inhuman threat stalking the depths of ZDR?
The Metroid games are awesome. The visuals in this game were breathtaking. I recently finished Samus Returns and this game has the same gameplay. Recommended for any fan of the Metroid series.
First, let me be clear: I've been a Metroid fan since the original NES (still own it) and am very good at difficult games. Among others, I've finished Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 on Brutal difficulty. I've also completed Evil Within on Akumu and Last of Us on Grounded. Granted, these are not platformers like Metroid but they all require considerable skill to complete.
I've played Dread for about 30 - 45 minutes and am now stuck, moving in a large "circle" within the map counter-clockwise. There are areas which appear to be accessible but just out of reach. The gameplay seems extremely linear, which ruins the franchise.
Perhaps Nintendo could take inspiration from Team Cherry: Hollow Knight blows Metroid Dread away - literally - at a fraction of the cost... not to mention by an indie team of THREE individuals. At least with Hollow Knight you have the ability to EXPLORE a NON-LINEAR world.
Sorry, but Nintendo absolutely ruined this game. I couldn't care less what other reviews state online. Be careful: you can't always trust them.

This is a great game. It combines great graphics for the platformer genre with compelling gameplay. It is one of my favorite games exclusive to Switch, and is a must have for any owner.
20 Years in the making: a return to form for one of the greatest video game franchises.
The gameplay is amazing. The controls are so smooth and fluid, the level design is fantastic, and the bosses are challenging and engaging. It is 2D Metroid at its finest and I would definitely recommend anyone to get their hands on it.
The games really good, I kinda wish they used the other joystick for aiming but its fine the way it is. The E.M.M.I. encounters can be really stressful, and I'm absolutely loving the story. :)
