Okay quality and fit, but it worked and didn't cost much.
Just to start, I have installed over 20 stereos, as I do this for many of my friends and family. So I have a lot of experience and am very competent doing installations.
Though this kit comes in 3 pieces just like the factory dash, it does NOT marry up to your factory vent covers. My model Sonata has brushed aluminum and this kit only comes in black. I figured I could clip my factory vent covers into this kit and I was wrong. I installed the kit anyway because I plan to eventually wrap it all in carbon... The mounting brackets didn't fit my car whatsoever (it was almost like they sent the wrong brackets?) but i was able to use the factory mounting brackets and it lined up just fine. This kit looks great from a few feet away but if you get close up to it you can see where it doesn't line up perfectly. There are tiny gaps on the left and right edges against the dash and a medium sized gap above the climate controls. I notice them because I installed it, but nobody else notices it when I point it out to them so its not a huge deal. lastly. The frame didn't accommodate the stereo I installed very well (Pioneer X721BT). The clips kept popping lose because the plate was wedging against the stereo face. So, I had to trim a mm all the way around the opening with a razor blade so it would fit and stay clipped in place (again, not a huge deal, but it was another added frustration).
It looks "good" installed but not perfect. I prefer the Scosche brand kits because they are very high quality and i have never had any issues with them. But I opted for this one from Metra because its half the price and they usually do a decent job as well. Its not bad enough to make me want to buy the Scosche and replace it but it does make me wish I would have bought the Scoshe instead of this one.
I recommend this kit if you are looking to keep the budget low. But if you are willing to pay another $30 for a slightly sharper look, I would recommend you buy the Scosche kit.
