Emergency and survival preparedness at its best
This is probably the best emergency whistle you could ever get for an emergency hiking or hunting pack. It is always best to prepare, first to be able to avoid any mishaps and second, to be able to handle any emergencies. This whistle is, simply and clearly stated, LOUD! It is in my emergency pack and being supplied to my children for the same. Hope you never have to use it but be happy you have it if you ever need it. Better than the other "loudest whistle' from that other company.
I've had a couple of these for a decade. My wide ranging bird dog responds well to them. I bought 6 more for attachment to life vests for my boat. There's another make whistle also claims to be loudest. Perhaps true if you just measure the narrow frequency band it makes. All ear/hearing tests I've read judge the storm whistle to be loudest, and the warbling sound it makes across a wide spectrum of frequencies makes it much more likely to be heard than the one single shrill note of the other whistle.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Loud and really not all that big
Lightweight and smaller than most palm sized sized pepper spray's. I gave one of these whistles to friends who own a food cart in a mean part of the city. Proven effective against mountain lions and bears
We live remotely on the side of a mountain. I have used this whistle and scared away a mountain lion that was pacing outside of and looking into our French door windows. Very loud
This whistle is as loud as it's advertised to be. If I have any complaints is that it's a touch bigger then a regular whistle, but I got over the size after I saw how well it worked. I put a cord on it hand put it around my eco when I ride my bicycle.
